Chapter 11 The Truth

"No way! Unless Darren gives up his project, I won't give my phone to you." Christine knew who had asked Wylie to come here. These photos wouldn't discredit Darren, but it was enough to cause some trouble to him. Now that this man cared so much about his reputation, Christine decided to make a deal with him.

As long as he gave up the project to build a chemical plant here, she would not only delete the photos but also made a thorough break with him.

"Are you kidding? This project is very important to Darren. It's impossible for him to give it up. Christine, why do you make such pointless resistance? You're not our rival." Wylie snorted, her eyes filled with sarcasm and disdain.

"Christine, what is this woman talking about?" Mrs. Wright? Darren's project? What on earth was going on?

Tina was confused, but she sensed that Wylie was ridiculing her daughter and this had something to do with her future son-in-law.

"Mom, it's nothing particular. You may have a rest in your bedroom. I have something to talk to Miss Cage." Christine took her mother's arm and wanted to pull her to the bedroom. The truth was too harsh for this old woman.

"No, I'll stay here. Be honest with me – has Darren done anything wrong?" Wylie was arrogant when she mentioned Darren; even a fool could tell that there was an unusual relationship between her and Darren.

"Mom, don't think too much. He hasn't done anything wrong." Christine denied hastily out of protection for her mother.

"Christine, what a good daughter you are! All right, I'll help you with this." Wylie looked at them, ready to tell the story.

Darren had got the title deed of this house, and they had nothing to worry about now.

"Wylie, Cage, shut up!" Christine interrupted hurriedly, her face red with rage.

"Christine, how long can you hide it from your mother? If I were you, I would tell her the truth." Wylie sneered with a sly look.

"Christine, what is the relationship between this woman and Darren?" questioned Tina, who was provoked by Wylie's arrogance.

"Mom..."

"Tell me about it!"

Christine hummed and hawed, which made Tina more suspicious about Darren's relationship with Wylie.

"Christine, now that you can't say it out, I'll do this for you. Mrs. Taylor, your daughter has been abandoned by Darren. Now, I'm his real fiancée. Besides, your house has been sold to Darren, so you must move right away. He's transferred double the money to your daughter's card as compensation. I'm here to inform you – if you don't leave within three days, we'll be tough for you." Wylie, who had taken herself as "Mrs. Wright", warned haughtily.

Startled, Tina held her daughter's hand tightly and asked, "Is all she said real? You've undone the engagement with Darren?"

"Mom, I..."

"Tell me the truth."

Seeing Tina's serious expression, Christine, red-eyed, finally nodded. "Yes. I found that Darren was with Wylie right after the training. Mom, I'm sorry. If I hadn't brought him to this family, we wouldn't have lost the land. Darren wants to build a chemical plant here."

"A chemical plant?" Tina's face turned pale. If a chemical plant was built here, how could the residents nearby live?

This was no better than murder!

Tina almost fainted out of overwhelming shock. "Then... he proposed to you for the same purpose?"

"Yes," Christine nodded painfully.

"What about the photos?" Tina tried to remain calm.

"Last night, I came back ahead of schedule. When I returned to the villa, I saw Darren and Wylie on the bed, and so, I took photos of them. They're afraid that I would give the photos to the press, so this woman is here to get my phone." Helpless, Christine could only tell the truth.

Hearing the explanation, Tina felt a wave of dizziness and leaned to Christine.

They had been cheated of both their land and their affection.

"Mom..." Christine caught the weak woman in her arms and apologized. "Mom, I'm sorry. It's all my fault."
