Chapter 10 The Woman Last Night

"Mom, I won't marry him! You don't know what he..." Christine's face went pale. She wanted to let her mother know about Darren's conspiracy, but she hesitated because it would be a considerable blow to this elderly woman.

"My silly girl, don't say so. Darren has bought you the ring." Tina thought Christine was just in a fit of pique.

"Mom, we can return the ring and the villa to him. We'll still live in our old house." It pained Christine to think of what she had seen in that villa. How could she pretend as if nothing had happened in front of a betrayer?

Besides, that man had proposed to her not because of love but his own interest. He just wanted their land!

"Why? You're going to marry Darren, and he's bought the house. He told me he would let me live with you. He's such a considerate man! Christine, listen to me – few men can be as caring as Darren nowadays. Don't act like a kid, or this good man may be scared away." Tina was greatly stunned by Christine's sudden decision.

"Mom..." Watching her aged mother wash vegetables in the kitchen, Christine suddenly felt like crying. There was a strong sense of guilt in her heart.

Darren had cheated away her love and their only place. How would her mother feel if she knew about Darren's hypocrisy and conspiracy?

Christine didn't dare think further. Looking at her mother's back, she couldn't help shedding tears. "Mom, I'm sorry."

"Christine, what's wrong?" Seeing Christine's tears, Tina turned the tap off and walked up to her. "Why did you say sorry to me?"

"Mom... I..." Choked, Christine fumbled helplessly for words.

It was all her fault to let a fox into their henhouse.

"Don't cry. Do you feel sad about leaving this house? My silly girl, you have to marry and can't live here forever. As long as you have a good life with Darren, I'm willing to give up everything." Tina was puzzled by her daughter's tears, but she guessed Christine also loved this humble suburban house where they had lived for over 20 years.

"Mom, I sorry..." Christine repeated, tears gushing down her cheeks. Tina's words made her feel even guiltier.

While Christine was wiping her tears, she heard a woman's voice from outside the door, "Christine Taylor, get out!"

It was so sharp that she couldn't help frowning.

"Madam, who are you looking for?" Tina and Christine looked at the door and saw a curvaceous, fair-skinned beauty there. Her well-arched brows flattered her femininity; her maroon hair cascaded over her shoulders. At this moment, she was wearing a fashionable red mini skirt that could only cover her bottom, revealing her long, straight legs. As she stepped in, her pleasant fragrance permeated the small house in an instant.

"Your daughter Christine Taylor." Wylie Cage stared at Christine threateningly. "Give me the photos, or I'll teach you a lesson in front of your mother."

"You're the woman last night?" Only then did Christine recognize her as the busty woman sleeping with Darren.

"I have a name. You can call me Wylie Cage or Mrs. Wright." Wylie revealed a triumphant smile because she had become Darren Wright's new fiancée.

"Mrs. Wright?" Christine's face became as white as paper. Furious, she pointed at the Wylie and shouted, "Wylie Cage, please get out of here!"

It wasn't the right time to let her mother know the truth! Anxious, she tried to drive Wylie out of the house.

"I'll leave after you give me your phone," Wylie warned with a snort.

Darren had asked her to get the photos today at all costs.
