Chapter 15 Asking for Shares

Leo was always a man who would do what he promised.

On the third day after the lunch at the Lewis Family's house, he showed up at the Lewis Group with Bree and his attorney.

While the lawyer talked to the receptionist, Bree looked around at the Lewis Group, a leading company in S City.

In Bree's eyes, the Lewis Group Building was magnificent, and those employees all looked like business elites.

How many people could recall that the building, as well as all the Lewis Family's other estates, used to belong to the Corbyn Family ten something years ago?

At present, the Corbyn Family was gone.

Leo was probably the only legacy of the Corbyn Family standing.

At this moment, Bree suddenly felt the weight of the burden on the man's shoulders.

"Let's go." Leo took the woman by her shoulders and followed a staff member to enter the elevator.

When the elevator doors closed, Leo naturally took his hands off her shoulders.

Bree abruptly gripped Leo's one arm with her smooth hands.

Leo lowered his head to see the encouraging smile on the woman's face.

It was her way of telling him that she would always stand by his side no matter what would happen later.

Just like he had held her hand that day at the Lewis Family's house.

Leo's mind relaxed slightly.

Why was he so nervous in the first place?

He had everything under control.

After all these years of planning, it was only a matter of time before he took back the Corbyn Family's fortune.

Witnessing the interaction between the couple, Hugh Zane also felt somewhat easier inside.

He was the Corbyn Family's solicitor. He watched the Corbyn Family's princess wither away like a flower petal, but there was nothing he could do for her except make her a will.

Eventually, it was time for that will, which had been sealed for more than a decade, to see the light.

In the Chairman's office...

"Leo, you're quite impatient, aren't you? Can't you even trust your own father? Are you afraid Dad will glom on to your mother's shares?" Oliver, who came over immediately after learning Leo would show up at the Lewis Group, glared at Leo with a menacing look in his eyes.

However, no one responded to his offensive, provoking words.

"Mr. Lewis, long time no see." Hugh stared at Hervey, who was sitting behind the desk.

"Long time no see indeed." Hervey got up with a smile.

Compared to Oliver's anger, Hervey's performance was clearly calmer and more unpredictable.

As it turned out, the anger he had shown at the Lewis Family's house that day was nothing more than a show.

He was trying to lower their guard.

What an old fox!

Bree cursed the man inwardly.

"I'm sure Mr. Lewis is clear about my intention of the visit today." Hugh had dealt with Hervey more than ten years ago, and he naturally knew that he was not easy to handle. He did not beat around the bush but cut to the chase.

"This is Ms. Merilyn's will, which states that she will inherit fifty percent of the Corbyn Group upon the marriage of her only son, Leo Lewis." Hugh handed the document to Hervey.

"Now that Leo is married, I would ask Mr. Lewis to return to Leo the shares that are due to him, as per the will."

Hervey took the file, casually flipped it through, and then put it down with a smile on his face. "As it's Merilyn's will, I certainly have no problem with it."

Hervey was surprisingly cooperative, but neither Hugh, Leo, nor Bree let their guard down because of that.

Sure enough.

Hervey's tone of voice changed instantly, "However, the Corbyn Group has grown over the past ten years, and its shares have been diluted several times. So, the shares that Merilyn left are naturally reduced greatly."

Hugh's expression became gloomy, but he could not find a rebuttal.

"That's alright," Leo suddenly spoke up, "Dilution of the shares is also a matter of fact, and I can understand. Just give me whatever is left after that."

Hugh swiftly came to his senses and nodded. "That's right, share dilution is necessary for the group's development. You shall return the shares to Leo after the dilution."

Oliver's expression changed subtly. Just as he was about to say something, Hervey stopped him.

As if he did not hear Hugh's words, Hervey fixed his eyes upon Leo.

"Leo, you have just got married to Bree and should spend more time with her. Also, as you two are married, the wedding must be held."

"As long as I'm with Leo, I don't care about the formality." Bree interrupted Hervey.

"Nonsense!" Hervey snapped, "The wedding isn't just about you two. Leo is my son, so his wedding has to be a grand one."

"As for the shares, it is not a trivial matter, after all. I have to explain to the shareholders as well." Hervey pondered for a moment and said, "You join the Lewis Group for a period to learn about the company. I'll transfer the shares to you afterward."

"That's not going to work." Hugh expressed his disagreement.

Hervey's smile diminished. "Mr. Zane, I know your responsibilities, but after all, this is a family matter for the Lewis Family. I only have two sons, and the Lewis Group will be owned by them, in the end, no matter how, am I right?"

"But..." Hugh winked at Leo repeatedly, indicating that he should disagree.

Leo hesitated.

Traces of cunning light flashed across Hervey's eyes as he continued persuading Leo.

Witnessing what was going on, Bree nursed a strange sense of discomfort.

"I'm not going to work at the Lewis Group."

Hervey's expression instantly darkened. Before he could say anything, Leo continued, "I can accept to not take those shares at present, but I want Phoenix Apparel now."
