Chapter 17 Perform Well

Ashley hurried to the parking lot after receiving the call from Leonard. It was her first day at the Bryant Group. Although she was swamped, and Leonard misunderstood and scolded her, she felt delighted inside.

As the parking lot was huge, Ashley was not sure where she should wait for Leonard or his vehicle was parked. Therefore, she stayed somewhere near the exit.

Leonard had his exclusive parking space where several luxury cars worth millions of yuan were parked. He got out of the elevator, walked to a black Land Rover, but did not see Ashley. Then, he made another call.

"Where are you?"

Ashley was a little nervous when she got the call. She looked around, answering, "The parking lot is too big. I don't know where you are, so I'm waiting for you at the exit."

Leonard hung up and got in the car, then started the engine and drove out. At the exit, he saw Ashley, who was standing there with her head down, her long black hair vaguely covering her cheeks, and she looked slim.

Hearing the sound of a vehicle approaching, Ashley took a step back and lifted her head to see a black Land Rover pulling up in front of her. Leonard was sitting in the driver's seat and staring at her.

Ashley walked over and tried to pull open the backseat door. However, she failed. Given no other choice, she had to move to Leonard's window and knock on the glass.

The window was slowly lowered down.

"I cannot open the door." Ashley was stunned by Leonard's clear-cut face but quickly came to her senses and tilted her head to not look into the man's eyes.

Leonard glanced at Ashley, saying, "Miss Powell, I am not your driver."

Ashley immediately understood the meaning of the man's words, walked to the other side of the vehicle to pull open the co-driver's seat, and got inside. The air in the car was tinged with the smell of mint and tobacco.

As soon as Ashley fastened the seat belt, Leonard drove off the drive at such a high speed that the woman hurried to clutch the handle above her head.

The car would pass by the Bryant Group Building after it got out of the parking lot. It was rush hour. If anyone from the company happened to see Ashley sitting in Leonard's car, things would become difficult for her in the future.

Therefore, when the car drove by the building, Ashley bent over to hide her body from being seen by people outside and maintained this posture for more than five minutes.

Leonard witnessed Ashley's movements but did not say a word from beginning to end.

It was so quiet in the car that Ashley felt somewhat awkward. She stole a glance at Leonard, who was wearing a cold, standoffish expression. His features were so good-looking that no woman could resist their attraction and that all men would feel jealous. She idolized this man for over four years.

Leonard eventually could not stand Ashley's affectionate eyes and asked coldly with a frown, "What are you looking at?"

Ashley smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, but you're so handsome."

Leonard's face was cold and livid. "That's your trick as well, isn't it?"

Ashley was stunned, then hurried to explain herself. "No, I was just expressing my opinion. You're handsome. Hasn't anyone ever told you that before?"

"Shut up." Leonard spoke coldly, "Too many women want to get close to me. Even though we're legally married, you're just a stranger to me. I'm telling you, put away your evil tricks. Otherwise, I won't be nice to you."

Ashley was stunned for a second and then looked directly into Leonard's eyes. "Why did you get a marriage license with me if you thought from the beginning that I was approaching you with an unspeakable purpose? Don't tell me it's because we had sex and you want to be responsible for me. I wouldn't believe you if you said that."

Leonard's face was expressionless, his hands resting on the steering wheel. The white shirt sleeves, the expensive watch on his wrist, his bony fingers, and everything else about him seemed so fine as those existed only in an idol drama or a novel.

"Miss Powell, I married you only because you showed up in time to help me out. Don't flatter yourself that you're beautiful and I'll fall for you," Leonard spoke softly, "I'm telling you. We're just taking advantage of each other. So, play your role well, and don't get me in trouble."

Leonard's words were harsh and straightforward. Though Ashley knew that reality was cruel, upon hearing those words, however, she still felt distressed inside. She bit her bottom lip tightly, trying to tamp down the surging emotions.

"Miss Powell, if your performance satisfies me, our contract marriage may last longer." Leonard glanced at Ashley. She was his first woman. Before her, even if a pretty woman with a gorgeous figure was sent to his bed, he would not have any physical reaction. For him, Ashley was a unique being.

Ashley let him know how a woman tasted like and made him addicted to her.

Ashley lowered her head with a bitter smile, then turned to look at the scenery outside the car window. "What role do you hope me to play? A woman satisfies you on the bed and helps you deal with your grandfather and the others? And don't bring you trouble. What else?"

Leonard did not look at Ashley, but he could feel that she was in a bad mood. "I will draft a contract, and you will know the terms and conditions by then."

Ashley stared at those strangers outside the window and fell into thoughts. She graduated from university only two days ago and lost her virginity on that very night. The day before, she married the man who was driving the vehicle. Up to the present, she still could not fully accept what had happened and felt like she was in a dream.

Half an hour later, the car entered a courtyard with a black carved gate. As soon as it pulled up, a servant rushed over to welcome Leonard.

Ashley got out of the vehicle cautiously. Upon seeing the yard, lawn, swimming pool, and villa in front of her, her eyes widened open in surprise.

There were delicate lawns, fountains, and precious trees and flowers on both sides of the road leading to the villa. Besides, there was a large and beautiful glass flower house in the distance, which had rare flowers and plants from all over the world.

The red-tiled and white-walled villa appeared a bit old but incredibly beautiful. On one side of the estate, there were creepers all over the wall and gorgeous roses at its root.
