Chapter 11 The Store Is Having a Sale

When Nelly went out of the convenience store, she happened to meet her colleagues who had finished lunch. Casually, they asked her what she had bought.

She noticed that Lynne was behind them. Everyone, including Lynne's friend Jasmine, was keeping a distance from her.

Seeing Nelly walking to her, Lynne waved the packed lunch in her hand with a smile, as if nothing particular had happened.

The others were still waiting for Nelly's answer. Considering the strange association these products might cause, she only told them these were daily necessities.

Jasmine said in an exaggerated tone, "Oh, you came out to buy private products on your duty hour? Seems you're quite leisurely..."

Nelly replied casually, "Just a few minutes. I'll go up now."

Jasmine didn't let her off. "So can we all sneak out to buy things when we're on duty? Anyway, it's just a few minutes. We don't need to write a statement of self-criticism, do we?"

The others echoed her joking words immediately. It was a game. They could laugh at Nelly if she took it seriously.

Nelly smiled. "If you buy things for Mr. Longman, no one will criticize you for being missing all day. Perhaps all the people will thank you for sharing Mr. Longman's burden."

Jasmine's triumphant face suddenly fell. The others also swallowed hard. Was it proper to show off buying daily necessities for the boss?

When Nelly opened the office door, she saw a woman leaning against the desk. As she turned around, Benjamin's arrogant face was exposed to Nelly's eyes.

As Nelly stared at him, he didn't show any embarrassment. Instead, he drawled, "Have you bought the things?"

"Certainly!" She revealed a perfect professional smile.

However, the calmness in her eyes somehow annoyed him.

From a close distance, Faye looked up at his handsome face in fascination. The next second, she cried out, "Mr... Longman?"

Her hand ached in his grip. Insensitive as she was, she could feel his mood swing clearly.

"Nothing." It was not his intention to hurt the beauty, so he lowered his head to comfort her softly. When he looked up at Nelly again, he seemed somewhat sullen. "Give them to me."

Respectfully, Nelly placed the entire bag on the desk at once.

What he did next was out of the two women's expectations. He poured out the things in the bag in front of his wife and his lover.

Faye blushed. "Mr. Longman, what about letting Nelly back to work?"

Faye was a year older than Nelly and her position was also higher, so Nelly could accept Faye calling her first name.

Tapping the table with his finger, Benjamin didn't want to let Nelly off easily. "Didn't I tell you to buy two? Why did you buy so many boxes?" Did she want him to die on another woman's body?

With her clothes in disarray, Faye was surprised at the number of the products on the table. They were as many as the gifts on her desk this morning.

There were various colors, brands, and patterns. The only thing in common was that they were all in the largest size.

Faye was both excited and worried. She was afraid that her body couldn't afford too many times.

Nelly explained, "Well, because the store is now having a sale. Two for one, and eight for five. Now that you're so busy every day, I believe you need a great number of them. So I took this opportunity to help you prepare more which are cheap and convenient!"

Hearing that, Benjamin's face became even sourer. His voice sounded as if it was squeezed out of his throat. "Then should I thank you for being so considerate for my wallet?"

"It's my pleasure." Nelly waved her hands. Then, she thought of something, took out a piece of paper from her pocket, and handed it to him.

"What is this?" He raised his brow high, his palms lingering on Faye's waist. His expression was telling Nelly, "I'm too busy to read it."

Nelly said frankly, "This is a receipt. The sum of buying these products is written on it. Well, could you please... pay the bill?"

Faye let out a scream. Don't misunderstand. She was not be "executed" on the spot. Instead, she was pinched by him again.

Sadly, he didn't have the mood to comfort Faye. He shouted at Nelly angrily, "Pay the bill? Do you know who you are? How dare you talk about money to me?"

What he meant was that Nelly was his wife, one of his family members, so she shouldn't fuss about money with him.

But Nelly didn't follow his stream of thoughts. "Mr. Longman, please be reasonable. It's not my job to buy you these during working hours. Besides, these are not cheap. I bought more for you on a sale just to help you save money. Now that I'm so considerate to you, why can't you think for me?"

As those peaceful words came out from her pink lips, her eyes were still calm and stubborn. Her intention couldn't be clearer: Give me the money!

Faye looked at Nelly as if she was an alien. Why she? How could such a stupid miser have an affair with Benjamin Longman? There must be a mistake!

As for Benjamin, he was doubting that Nelly might really have no emotional intelligence!
