Chapter 20 It Hurts...
"Chris, wake up. You have a fever."
Franklin frowned and called the family doctor after touching her forehead.
The doctor didn't sleep and was waiting to be called in the guest bedroom. He hurried to be there with special antipyretic and alcohol cotton in his hand, "Mr. Brook, she is trapped in a nightmare. Wake her up and let her have some medicine. She will be better after being cooled with alcohol cotton."
Christine was breathing hard and crying out of pain. She grabbed Franklin at his arms and didn't let him go even if her fingernails were hurting Franklin and left him some scratches.
"Mr. Brook, do you want to deal with the wound on your arm first?" The doctor saw that deep wound on Franklin's arm and wondered how much effort it took.
Mrs. Brook wasn't thinking about killing Mr. Brook in her dream, was she?
Christine would kill the doctor first if she knew what the doctor was wondering.
"Frank, It hurts..."
"Where?" Franklin asked worriedly when he heard Christine said so. And he wrinkled his brows.
Christine put one hand against her waist and whined, vaguely whispering words that nobody could hear clearly.
Franklin wore a cold face and ordered, "There is no time. Fetch a cup of warm water and I will feed her myself."
The housekeeper and Mrs. Miller both woke up. One took a cup of water to Franklin.
Franklin put that pill in his mouth and stooped to find a way to push the pill into her mouth as he could not wake her up.
Christine gasped.
She frowned and bit the corner of his mouth and let him go the next minute.
There was a row of obvious teeth marks on his lips.
"Ah..."
The bitterness was now spreading in her mouth.
Christine wrinkled her brows and tried to spit out that tablet while putting out her tongue.
Franklin held another cup of water in his mouth, stooped, kissed her, and let the water flow into hers while putting one hand on her chin. His hot breath was sprayed on her face.
And she swallowed the pill in that way.
The housekeeper handed Franklin a piece of napkin and Franklin wiped her mouth. The doctor added, "Mr. Brook, now you need to cool her down with the alcohol cotton and do it every 10 minutes."
Franklin uttered "Ok" and raised his right brow, indicating that they could go now.
They dared not stop one more minute and almost left the room at the speed of light.
Franklin kissed her on her frowned brows and heard her trembling breath.
He clenched his fist and he was almost heartbroken, "There, there, you will be fine."
He took off her clothes. Those red spots disappeared from that white body. Her dark hair was half hanging on both sides of the shoulder, covering the looming breasts. She lay in his arms and her body was soft like a porcelain doll.
Alcohol stimulated her skin with coldness. There were tears oozed from the corner of her eyes because of that bad feeling. She moved around in his arms and clung to his strong waist.
Franklin sighed and didn't know what to do. The only thing he could do was to gently pat and caress her back and wipe her body.
In her nightmare, someone was pulling her arms with strength and one hand was grabbing at her foot and trying to drag her down to hell. They were Mrs. Jones, Gloria, Larissa...
Their horrible faces made Christine wake up from her dream.
And she shouted and rose from the bed, with her eyes red. She turned around and saw Franklin sat by her side and closed his eyes to have a rest.
He didn't sleep well, either. The moment when she rose from the bed and shouted, he was clear-minded.
Franklin hurried to hold her in his arms and kissed her forehead. He sighed with relief when he found that she was not running a fever.
Christine was scared and gasped in his arms.
As the fresh air poured into her stomach, she examined her ribs and her waist. And she doubted whether her two kidneys were still there.
She remembered she was hit in the ribs and her lungs were pierced in the drug rehabilitation center. She almost died, and after that, she was in pain whenever she breathed.
Then she was cheated to sign on the body donation contract. And Martin took away her kidneys and betrayed her.
Christine did not know whether her dream was true. But everything seemed to be in front of her and vividly in her mind.
"Are you feeling good?"
She raised her head on hearing his voice.
The sun sprinkled through the bright window. Christine saw dark circles on his face and his stiffed back. He might be in this posture for the whole night.
Christine looked at him and her heart was aching. Her lost mind finally found its home.
Her eyes were clear and moist, and her voice was hoarse because of fever, "did you sit there all night?"
"Yes." He answered casually. Seeing she was blaming herself, he bent his index finger and bounced it on her forehead, "Mrs. Brook, I remember you said you were healthy and you were not hurt in a car accident? You make me learn what those words mean."
Christine, "..."
It was not a good thing to start criticizing her in the morning.
"Hubby, are you tired?" Christine winked playfully. She felt sticky all over when she moved her body, so she didn't want to move anymore. She touched Franklin's chest quietly and said in a soft tone, "Do you want to sleep for a while? I can serve you with a massage."
Franklin raised his brow and grinned, "You have the strength to serve me?"
Christine didn't say a word anymore.
Finally, they didn't lie in the bed anymore because of a phone call. Mason called Franklin and said, "There is a new department and you'd better come and attend the news-press."
When Franklin got up from the bed, Christine was following him.
He paused his steps and scolded, "Do you want to catch a cold again? Why you don't wear your clothes well and come out?"
It was interesting to see Christine walked with one foot stiffed.
She shook her head, "Hubby, can we take a bath together, and then I go to the company with you?"
"No way."
"Really? But there are too many crazy women outside who want to take a bite of you. I can help if they come to you." Christine was a little worried.
She remembered Gloria had taken advantage of her car accident and worked in Franklin's company. And Gloria finally made herself the secretary of Franklin and almost became his private assistant.
Except that Gloria didn't sleep with Franklin, she was a successful woman.
Gloria was bullying Christine and did what Mrs. Brook should do under Christine's name as the true daughter of The Stocks.
How could Christine now bear that?
Seeing his gloomy face and his silence, Christine hurried to put on a bright smile, "Hubby, please let me go with you. We can attend the news-press together and go to the Stocks by the way."
"You want to go to the Stocks?" Franklin asked casually.
"Yes, of course."
How could she get things her mother left to her if she didn't go back to that place?
Franklin was unhappy about that and warned, "Stay away from them. Now you are a Brook."
A married daughter was just like water that had been poured—she didn't belong to her parents anymore.
Christine gave a little start.
Finally, Franklin couldn't bear Christine anymore. He directly carried her to the bathroom in a quilt and quickly bathed them. Then he carried out the blushed girl, pulled open the wardrobe, and threw out some clothes, which directly hit Christine's head.
"Put on your clothes."
"Let me see if you still dare to ask me to wash for you!"
Christine saw he gnashed his teeth after she managed to get out of the clothes. And she put on her clothes quietly.
What she didn't know was that Franklin struggled hard to take a bath and do nothing else with her. Now what he wanted most was that Christine was healthy and strong enough so that he could put her on the bed and enjoyed her.
