Chapter 14 - Sham
Two days later
Sham took some documents on her desk and walked to the Finance manager's office and placed them on the desk. She was feeling exhausted and all worked up. The manager had already left and it was time to leave and go home and all she needed was a warm shower and a heavy support and plenty of rest till the next day. As she passed heading to her office to pick her hand bag and sign out at the reception, a familiar voice stopped her. She was not ready for this, she wasn't ready for Sandra's remarks and stupid comments. "What is it Sandra?" Sham asked facing her and rolling her eyes. She felt fade up by Dennis' situation and all she wanted was just to move on and get this whole over and done with. "So how are you coping knowing that the bride won't be you but me?" Sandra said moving closer. Sham widened her eyes she didn't understand the statement or maybe she did but the thought of it was not just getting logic in her brains. Sandra and Sham had been rivals for quite sometime not because Sham wanted it but because Sandra pulled it off. She first tried to lie to get her off the company which actually didn't work because Jecinta helped her and she always wanted to find a way to end her job which Sham never understood why. She guessed maybe their are people who just hate you for no good reason. "What do you mean?" Sham asked looking confused. Tears had started forming at the back of her eyes. "I mean that their is a wedding but sweetheart it won't be your wedding, guess who wedding is it going to be." Sham took a deep breath to absorb the information she was being fed with. How could he, how could Dennis just marry her in a wedding she had planned. She thought. "My wedding, here have this." She said handing over an envelope to Sham. Sham took the envelope and Sandra walked away laughing sarcastically. 'Should I open or just throw it away.' She thought. She walked back to her office to pick up her handbag and reached at the reception and signed out walking towards the exit. Jecinta was standing outside on a call so she walked to her and immediately she saw her she ended the call. "I've been waiting here for 20 minutes where were you?" She asked placing her phone back to her hand bag. "I met and she gave me this, I just want to give it to you Jecinta for you to check it out."
"Sandra, the boss' secretary?" Jecinta asked looking at the envelope. She then took it and Sham nodded. Jecinta opened it eyes pressed on Sham, she knew it wasn't something good. "Hello ladies..." A voice called while they were busy looking at each other. "Amal!" They both said and Jecinta stopped opening the envelope. "I'm just from work and I passed by heading home when I saw you two standing here so I decided to drive you guys home instead of taking a taxi and all that paying, you know." Amal said smiling. "Sure why not." Jecinta said smiling back. "Okay let's go to my car it's just packed on the other side." Jecinta looked at Sham smiling and holding her hand as they followed Amal from behind. Sham's mind was on the envelope she really wanted to know what was inside but she was scared it might break her heart into pieces. "Girl check it out this guy has a car, mustang, OMG." Jecinta whispered to the absent minded Sham. "What do you do for life Amal." Jecinta asked immediately they got into the car. "Why?"
"I just want to know." She said smiling and tapping Sham. "I'm a bar manager, I can say."
'Bar manager' Sham thought bringing her thoughts back. She was seated at the back seat with Jecinta in an expensive and classy car, she noticed. "Ooh okay." Jecinta said then silence took over for sometime. Sham say their thinking could it be that she had planned a wedding so hard for another woman. Now that explained why Den hadn't even bothered about her. She had to take chances first check what the envelope had and if it was what she expected she was going to call Den and just give him a piece of her mind.
"So what's in the envelope Jecinta?" Amal broke the silence and Sham's heart started pouncing rapidly. "I don't know yet but it's bad stuff." Jecinta said facing Sham and noticing how dull she looked. "Open it I want to know what's inside." Sham whispered at Jecinta. Jecinta took a deep breath and opened the envelope completely. "Is it a bomb because the expression on your faces makes it feel like it's a bomb." Amal said curiously. Jecinta took a wedding card out and Dennis' face was on top with Sandra's face and that's when Sham noticed it was an invitation to her wedding but the groom was having a change of the bride. Sham hid her face in her arms and started shedding tears. She felt her heart scatter into two and her whole body ached a very unreasonable ache. "What the fuck!" Jecinta said, facing Sham, she just hugged her, it was the least she could do. "Turn left on the next junction, I can't take this anymore." Sham said but Jecinta stopped her. "No Amal let's just go to her house please."
