Chapter 23 The Thieves

One sunny day in autumn, ginkgo trees planted on both sides of the road turned beautifully golden.

At Zoey's insistence, Charlie agreed to take a walk with her. After leaving the Kingsley Family Old mansion, they strolled along the road. In case of emergency, Charlie had a car follow them at a distance.

"Today is your birthday. Why don't you tell me in advance?"

Zoey found it guilty that she did not know her husband's birthday. But actually, it was not her fault. The time they spent together was short, and Charlie used to be taciturn before her.

"I don't want to celebrate my birthday."

In his memory, all of his birthdays were spent with Caroline. But on his birthday of this year, she was in another country far away from him. He hated to be reminded of that woman.

"Is it because it reminds you of your aging? Don't worry, and I don't care about that. Even though your hair grows gray, you are also the most handsome older man in my eyes. " Zoey said with an affectionate look.

When passing a European-style villa with red tiles and white walls, Zoey was attracted by a cluster of roses in a glass greenhouse.

Noticing that Zoey stopped, Charlie looked up at her and followed her eyes to see the rose.

An idea struck Zoey, who said to Charlie, "Darling, wait for me here. I'll be back in minutes."

"What are you going to do?" Charlie asked.

"You'll know later." Zoey winked at Charlie and replied mysteriously.

A black iron fence surrounded the villa. Looking through the French window, Zoey found that there was no one in the house.

Then she looked at the gorgeous roses in the glass greenhouse. She could not resist sneaking into the yard to pick up some roses for Charlie as a late gift.

The flower language of roses meant I love you.

Luckily, Zoey wore pants today because it was a bit cold, making it easier for her to climb up the wall, which was not tall. She climbed up into the yard steadily.

"You intend to steal roses?"

Looking at the beautiful roses in the closed glass greenhouse, Charlie immediately understood her intention.

Zoey waved the paper money in the hand and explained cunningly, "I'm gonna pay for it! If I don't give money, you can call it stealing. But If I do, it's not stealing! "

"It's unreasonable! Get out! That's not right! " Charlie said.

But Zoey did not listen to him. She ran quietly toward the flower house with her back arched. It was obviously not the first time she had done this.

Charlie was surprised again by this little woman, who was bold, violent, and cunning. Despite so many shortcomings, she was lovely and charming.

"Zoey." Charlie lowered his voice for fear that the people in the house heard him. He called her name several times, but Zoey did not come out.

He sat in the wheelchair, worried about Zoey, who certainly did not notice that there was a German shepherd dog in the villa.

He could only pray that the "flower thief" could go out safely. He was forced to be an accomplice by Zoey, the accomplice of a rose thief!

"Ouch..."

"What's the matter?"

"Nothing!"

There were people in the house. Through the French window, he saw a man and a woman walk over slowly. It was the first time in his life that Charlie had been so nervous that his heart almost jumped out of his chest.

"Enough, get out now!"

How greedy she was!

It seemed that Zoey planned to steal all of the roses.

In a frantic tone, Charlie called out, "Zoey, come out quickly!"

"Wait a minute."

"Zoey, I'll be angry if you don't get out immediately!"

Charlie had experienced a lot of exciting activities in his life. When he was young, he played extreme sports, such as skydiving, skiing from a cliff with a gap of only five meters, crossing the Sahara desert with an archaeological team to find Loulan, an ancient civilization. But his heart never beat so fast in his life that it nearly jumped out of his throat.

"Zoey!"

"Woof, woof, woof..."
