Chapter 18 Against the World

What was wrong with these people?

Why did they all try to ruin her relationship with Charlie? Olivia liked Charlie, did this man like Charlie, too?

Zoey looked at Charlie, from the forehead and his eyes to the nose and his lips, all of which seemed so charming.

"Charlie is my husband. If you dare to spoil our relationship, I'll beat you up!" Zoey warned.

Frank was amused by Zoey, who looked like a lioness trying to protect the cubs.

"You don't believe that there is a shred of love to Caroline left in his heart?" Jim retorted.

"The past means the past. Does it make any difference even if you're right? You have feelings about the dog that you keep for a long time, let alone people. But there is no need to keep a dog that bites people even though you love it."

Frank was amazed by Zoey's sarcasm.

"You're ridiculous. If you want to chase Caroline, do it. Why do you care if Charlie still loves Caroline or not? Or you are a coward who feels ashamed to express your feelings?"

Jim flushed with anger, but Zoey continued.

"When you and Caroline get married, Charlie and I will send you a big red envelope. But can you stop mentioning Caroline in front of us?

Honestly, I hate Charlie's ex-fiancée. If I had met Charlie earlier, Caroline would have no chance to be his fiancée."

Frank burst into laughter, clapped his hands, and exclaimed, "Zoey, you're so impressive!"

"Don't call me that. I don't know who you are."

Zoey walked toward Charlie and said in a soft tone, "Charlie, grandma called you for dinner, let's go."

"Okay."

After greeting his friends, Charlie left under the curious gazes of his friends.

Zoey took Charlie to a guest room instead of the banquet hall.

And then she locked the door.

Charlie turned around, seeing Zoey, who pursed lips and had anger written all over her face.

"Jim has liked Caroline since he was a child. Don't take his words to heart." Charlie explained.

"I don't."

What she cared about was Charlie, not Jim, someone who meant nothing to her.

"You and Caroline were childhood sweethearts?" Zoey asked.

It was the first time they talked about Caroline, the woman who played a vital role in Charlie's life and almost became his wife. It was not until today that Zoey learned that they were childhood friends. A wave of jealousy engulfed her last grain of senses.

"The Kingsley Family and the Thomas Family have been close to each other for a long time. So Caroline and I have known each other since we were kids." Charlie frankly admitted that.

"Caroline! Caroline! You are already broken up, but you still call her name so intimately. Do you take me as your wife?" Zoey asked with fury.

Charlie's face sank. "What do you want to hear?"

"I want you to tell me that there is only me in your heart, and you have forgotten that woman!"

Charlie shook his head gently. "I don't want to lie to you."

"So you still think of her?"

"Sometimes."

His pride made him wonder why Caroline had left him without a word.

Zoey stood still, her heart throbbing with disappointment and sadness.

"Come here." Charlie stretched out his hand toward her.

Zoey looked up and hit his hand. "No, find your Caroline. Man is literally unreasonable. How can you choose a woman who abandoned you over one who loves you so much?"
