Chapter 14 The Top Family

The Kingsley Family's old mansion was one of the most luxurious buildings on Seaside Boulevard.

It had undergone several times of expansion and renovation.

The main house, quint and serene, had been built for more than a century. The Deer-Voice Mansion, a lake-front courtyard, was protected as a national heritage building and the Kingsley Family's shrine, which was not accessible to ordinary people. Four or five functional buildings surrounded it. Other buildings, such as a court, a large indoor swimming pool, and a heated flower room, also were located around.

Zoey helped Charlie get of the car and followed the housekeeper into the Kingsley Family's old mansion.

She looked around with curiosity and noticed a slightly distant landing pad where a silver combined with a certain red-colored helicopter was parked.

She whispered to Charlie, "Charlie, your home is so big."

"Dear, this is our home." Charlie reminded her.

"Oh, our home." Zoey smiled with cute dimples and teased Charlie. "The house is so big. We need to have many children so that it can be lively."

"How many children do you want?" Charlie asked with pleasure.

"The more, the better."

"You are keener on children than anyone else I know."

As a professional ballet dancer, Caroline strongly frowned on having children to fear its side effects on her figure. To Charlie's surprise, a young girl like Zoey was the exact opposite of Caroline.

"No, I just want to have your children."

When they turned around the wisteria corridor, she leaned over and kissed Charlie's cheek. "Charlie, a woman is only willing to have babies for the man that she loves deeply.

See how much I love you? When can you love me as much as I do?"

Charlie did not reply.

"Honey, do you love me more today?"

"..."

"It's okay, even if it's a bit."

Looking at Charlie, who remained quiet, Zoey sighed with disappointment. "It seems that the answer is 'no.'"

Charlie laughed and looked up at her chubby face. Zoey was more youthful and beautiful after gaining some weight.

"Why did you sigh? Where is your confidence?

I am an excellent student of the law department of A University who is beautiful and younger than you. My future is promising. It is your luck of a lifetime to get married to me." Charlie repeated exactly what she had said.

"Charlie, you are so annoying."

"So, do you still love me?"

"Don't you hear that the more annoying a man is, the more a woman loves him?"

Charlie felt speechless.

"Zoey, come here."

Mrs. Kingsley, who sat in the crowd, saw Zoey and waved at her. Zoey smiled and walked over with Charlie.

It was a tradition for the Kingsley Family to hold a chrysanthemum banquet every fall. Mrs. Kingsley wanted to take advantage of the banquet to introduce Zoey formally, so she invited many people.

These guests, who were either rich or powerful, looked down on Zoey's humble origins. Nonetheless, they had to conceal the contempt in their eyes.

Because she was Charlie's wife recognized by the Kingsley Family, today, Mrs. Kingsley would take her to the Kingsley Family's shrine to write her name down the genealogical book.

Mrs. Kingsley smiled at Zoey with pleasure.

Charlie beamed, and the gloomy look was completely gone. When he heard his grandmother say she would introduce Zoey to everyone, Charlie did not object. As he had promised, he started to take Zoey as his wife.

"Grandma, these are some snacks I made for you."
