Chapter 15 Making Some Babies
Zoey prepared some golden and tempting snacks made with sweet-scented osmanthus.
"Oh, you brought me a gift? You are so considerate."
Mrs. Kingsley beamed, released Zoey's hand, and showed off before her old friends of the same age.
"Look, these are some snacks made by Zoey."
Zoey hurriedly handed over the beautifully wrapped box and said bashfully, "It's just some osmanthus cakes. If grandma likes it, I'll make it for you every day."
Mrs. Kingsley took it with a smile and looked at Charlie, joking, "Charlie will not agree that."
Zoey blushed, too shy to say anything.
Mrs. Kingsley opened the box, in which there were small snacks wrapped in pink and light green paper. These snacks were crystal and contained petals of sweet-scented osmanthus arranged like various chrysanthemums.
"It looks so beautiful."
Mrs. Kingsley picked one up and opened it. The jelly on the surface shook slightly with the inside chrysanthemums as if a breeze blew through it.
Mrs. Lewis exclaimed, "How cute and delicate it is."
In praise of the crowd, Zoey heard a snort. She looked over and saw Olivia, who was five or six steps away.
Olivia was glaring at her with hatred. Zoey revealed a faint smile and withdrew her gaze.
There were many guests today, and as the male host, Charlie needed to receive the male guests.
It was Charlie's first official appearance after the accident, so it would be inappropriate for him not to receive the guests. But he was worried about Zoey.
Most of the people of their status were not friendly to women of a humble background. Charlie pleaded with his grandmother to take care of Zoey before leaving.
After Charlie left, Mrs. Kingsley caressed Zoey's hand and said, "You are so beautiful and obedient. I knew Charlie would fall in love with you soon."
It was because Mrs. Kingsley threatened her life that Charlie had to marry her.
For that reason, Zoey was much respectful of Mrs. Kingsley. She leaned forward to whisper in Mrs. Kingsley's ear.
"Grandmother, can you do me one more favor? Though Charlie has accepted me, he is unwilling to sleep with me. I want to have some children to accompany you."
The old tended to be fond of children, especially for the Kingsley Family, which had only a few children. Mrs. Kingsley was delighted with Zoey's words.
Considering the crowd, she just patted the back of Zoey's hand and promised. "Okay."
Curious about their conversation, Mrs. Lewis asked, "What are you talking about? Share with us."
Mrs. Kingsley replied, "Zoey told me that she wants to give me grandchildren in a smug tone.
Because she thought it would be fun for me."
"..."
"But having kids is more than that, isn't it?" Mrs. Kingsley put on a stern tone.
Zoey, who sat next to Mrs. Kinglsey, answered with a smile, "It is also true that kids are fun."
Personally, Zoey wanted a daughter.
Raised by parents who did not love her, Zoey had gone through all kinds of hardships since she was a child. But unlike her, her daughter, born in the Kingsley Family, would grow up in happiness like a little princess.
She wondered that Charlie preferred boys or girls.
Zoey was frustrated at the thought that Charlie was even unwilling to share a bed with her.
Olivia walked towards Zoey and said hatefully, "You want to have Charlie's baby? That's impossible."
