Chapter 5 A Plan
"What's your plan? I'll do everything within my power to help."
"Thank you; I can do it myself!" A flicker of imperceptible bitterness flashed across her pretty eyes.
Even those who she called family were so cruel that they wanted her dead!
How could she seek help from an incidental acquaintance?
"Do you want the old man to feel guilty for the rest of his life?" Chapman pretended to pull a long face.
"No..."
"Kid, I know you're tenacious and reluctant to bother others, but receiving help is not a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it can boost your development." Chapman cut in again before she could refuse.
Kelly was amazed by the old man's keen perception and knew that Chapman would know her secret sooner or later.
She briefed the man on her lot.
"Kid, only flawless men are truly fearful. Since we know they are greedy, things will be easy!" Chapman patted her hand and said meaningfully.
... Kelly waited quietly for his following speech.
"As long as your bait is tempting enough, the greedy fish will take it for sure."
Chapman told her the plan... She would be engaged to his grandson.
The Kents was a century-old family.
They possessed absolute power in City W.
They were a top family even across Country Z.
The Prime Group owned by the Kent Family had business worldwide and affected the lifeblood of the global economy.
Countless women from rich families vied with each other to establish kinships with them.
Unfortunately, the Kent Family members were small in number.
His eldest son died in a car accident and left a son. The young man was handsome and talented. Pitifully, no women had ever appeared around him, not to mention carrying on the family lineage.
As for the younger son...
Alas...
"No, no, I can't damage your grandson's reputation for the sake of my business. It's not fair to him." Upon hearing the plan, Kelly refused repeatedly.
"Kid, listen to me." Chapman tried to allay her worries.
"I want to do this out of my selfish mind! Rumors are questioning David Kent's sexual orientation and physical condition because he has never been close to any woman. You know medicine and are the only person I trust. Could you help me examine and see if he really has a question?"
"Well..." Kelly was in a dilemma.
"I'll give you time to consider and decide." The more Chapman looked at her, the more satisfied he felt with her. He believed that he had made a good decision.
He saw Kelly's hesitation and added, "You're injured and need to recuperate. It happens that my grandson will come back from a trip in a few days, and you can help me examine him."
Only then did Kelly notice that her hand bitten by the old man had been wrapped in gauze.
A stream of warmth rose from the bottom of her heart.
"Thank you, but... I still have unfinished business!" Kelly turned her head for a glance at the urn. Her dark eyes were brimmed with sadness.
Chapman knew that he shouldn't push it and thus asked, "Where are you going? I'll have you sent there!"
"I want to stay alone with my grandma for a while." Kelly declined.
