Chapter 4 Never Wake Up
From Monica's perspective, it was best if Edgar witnessed how horrible Sarah was and then expelled her from school.
Thinking so, however, Monica stilled remained gracious while speaking to Sarah, "Let's sit down and talk in peace, okay? Your class teacher is here."
With a motherly smile on her face, Monica waited for Sarah to say, "Fuck the class teacher. Get out of here."
However, what Monica expected did not happen.
Sarah miraculously stopped her attacks at Mike's yell and turned to her father with a dumbfounded gaze.
"Dad..."
Sarah mumbled as she looked at Mike with wide-opened eyes and an incredulous expression.
Upon seeing Sarah's glassy eyes, Mike instantly became worried and responded to her in a much softer tone of voice, "Sarah."
As Mike called Sarah's name, the girl abruptly threw herself into his arms and started wailing.
Mike was stunned at first, then overwhelmed, feeling at a loss how to comfort his daughter.
"Sarah, don't cry. Tell Dad what's going on. I will take care of it for you."
Sarah did not reply to Mike's words but kept sobbing in Mike's arms and mumbling, "Dad, I miss you so much."
Mike stiffened slightly at the words. It was the first time in years that he heard such words from Sarah, and he could not hide the look of excitement in his eyes.
He patted Sarah's back lightly, comforting, "Sarah, be good. Dad is here."
The scene left Monica and Amy wide-eyed. Also, Edgar was so shocked that his eyes almost fell out.
What the hell was going on? How could Sarah Smith, who was always arrogant and overbearing, actually throw herself into the arms of her loved one and weep fragilely?
Edgar witnessed the scene in disbelief. As if Mike had just realized Edgar was still here, he immediately apologized to the latter.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Green, but my daughter may have been frightened, and her state is apparently not stable today. Do you mind leaving now and that Sarah and I will visit you tomorrow?"
Edgar's mouth twitched at Mike's words.
Sarah was always the one who frightened others. Who could scare her in turn?
Thinking so, however, Edgar could say nothing else but goodbye, and Mike considerately arranged for the driver to send Edgar back to school.
After Sarah cried for a good while, she looked up at Mike with tears in her eyes.
"Dad, I'm sorry. I'll do whatever you want me to do from now on. Don't leave me alone again, please?"
While speaking, Sarah had tears in her eyes. The young woman looked so pitiful that Mike's heart and tone of voice softened considerably.
"What I said to you were angry, meaningless words. You are my baby daughter. How could I ever leave you alone?"
Tears refilled Sarah's eyes as she stared at his father's familiar face and caring expression.
Even if it was a dream, Sarah was already satisfied to see Mike again in the dream.
Sarah hugged Mike tightly to feel the last warmth, wishing that it could go on and never end.
When Sarah woke up again, however, she was alone.
