Chapter 9 The Girl Vance King Invited in Person

While complaining to Selma, Louise suddenly shrieked.

The voice was so sharp that Tessa hissed and glared at Louise.

But Louise had run to the stairs for her well-dressed daughter.

At this moment, Ashley was wearing a strapless evening dress with a one-meter-wide hemline, showing her clear cleavage.

Selma was somewhat surprised. "Isn't it... a little exaggerated?"

"There will be many celebrities tonight. If Ashley doesn't dress this way, she'll be outshone by others."

Louise helped Ashley with the hemline and looked her up and down with satisfaction.

Tessa put away her phone and walked over to get her bag.

"Ah..."

Ashley stepped back and stared at Tessa with disgust.

"Don't touch my dress. This is Lois Miller's design work."

Tessa raised her brows and had a glance at the dress. Then, she flung the bag over her shoulder and left.

"Tessa, my painting will be displayed in Veronica Art Gallery tonight. Don't you want to go and have a look? Although you're not invited, I'll tell them you're my cousin. Perhaps they'll let you in!"

Ashley rushed to the door and shouted. Then, she turned around.

"Grandma, Tessa left with that blond man again."

Selma looked somewhat embarrassed, while Louise sneered, "Don't follow her example."

...

Tessa followed Samuel into Veronica Art Gallery.

Although she was dressed in ordinary clothes, she became the center of attention as soon as she stepped in.

As a protector, Samuel pulled a straight face and threatened the crowd to look away through a fierce stare.

"Wait for me here. I'll walk around."

Tessa left him behind and strode toward the middle of the gallery.

The pièce de résistance tonight was naturally Master Brain's work.

With Vance standing before the painting, this area became even more dazzling.

"Mr. King."

A woman, dressed as elegantly as Ashley, approached and greeted him in a sugar-like voice.

Vance asked, "Are you here to appreciate paintings or to chat?"

The woman was stunned. "I..."

"If you want to appreciate paintings, just shut your mouth. If you want to chat, please go to the cafe." His voice was cold, and his face was sour.

The woman left sulkily.

Vance's assistant sighed softly.

However frigid Vance was, women still approached him one after another.

Soon, a middle-aged woman and a young girl walked over.

The assistant recognized them as special guests, so he went over to whisper something to Vance.

Vance looked over his shoulder and saw Louise and Ashley.

As if stuffed by a ball of cotton in her mouth, Ashley was rendered speechless by his dashing side face.

Louise stepped forward.

"Good evening, Mr. King. We're from the Wexler's. This is my daughter Ashley. Thank you for inviting us here and sending us an invitation letter."

She stressed every syllable of "invitation letter".

But there was scornful laughter all around her.

Who would be allowed in without an invitation letter?

"You wrote that letter in person, right? There's your personal stamp on it!"

Louise said aloud on purpose so that everyone present could hear her.

The noises gradually disappeared.

Vance had written the letter in person?

He had invited this family in person?

Feeling the attention on her, Ashley felt more than proud.

This was what she deserved.

Envied or hated, she must be the focus of attention.

But Vance walked away right after a glance at her.

It was as if she was merely wallpaper or something.
