Chapter 8 Letter of Admission

Ashley was the first to scream, rush forward, and snatch the letter. Opening the envelope with a quaint floral pattern, she saw that maroon family crest.

"Mom! It's really from the King's!"

She quickly scanned the letter. "They chose my painting and invite us to the art show tomorrow night."

"Let me see."

The letter, like a treasure, was then passed among the four.

Louise pointed at somewhere of the letter and showed it to Selma.

"Mom, look, here's Ashley's name. As I see, they only want to invite Ashley, not us parents."

It was good news that Ashley's painting was chosen by Veronica Art Gallery. Selma also felt elated about that.

Louise took this opportunity and said, "Mom, only such an outstanding girl as Ashley can bring honor to our family."

David also beamed with joy.

"There will be an auction after the art show. Ashley, don't worry. I'll prepare it well for you!"

...

The next day, Tessa didn't go out of her bedroom until dusk.

Eyes narrowed, she kept yawning with a sleepy look.

Slowly, she walked down the stairs. Her manner was as casual as a strolling cat.

"Oh, you've just woken up!"

Louise made a fuss again.

"It's a bad habit to lie in. Look, it's almost dusk now. Did you stay up late to play games last night?"

Tessa cast a domineering glance at Louise and shut her up.

Indeed, she hadn't slept last night; she had been drawing until dawn.

She had planned to sleep in the daytime, but since morning, Louise and Ashley had been chattering like quails in spring.

Even if she had tried to weaken her hearing, those excited screams still beat her eardrums.

When Tessa walked past, Louise suddenly realized she was daunted by this girl's aggression.

When she wanted to scold the girl, Selma walked over here.

Hurriedly, Louise took on a friendly look, helped Selma sit down, and handed her a piece of paper.

"Mom, look."

Selma unfolded the paper and put it a little farther away from her eyes. "Letter of admission? How did you obtain this so fast?"

"To let Tessa go to school earlier, David begged relevant people humbly and didn't sleep until half the night."

Selma was gratified. "He did a good job this time."

Selma stroked her belly with both hands and rubbed her eyes pitifully.

"Both David and I are sharp-tongued, but we've never done anything unconscionable. Those superficial don't know how kindhearted we are..."

As she said that, she looked up at Tessa.

But Tessa was playing with her phone and didn't even lift her eyelids.

Obviously, she didn't mean to say thank you. Seeing that, Selma patted the back of Louise's hand with a sigh.

"It's been years since you married into this family. I know what kind of person you are. Don't think too much. You're pregnant now..."

Tessa had a glance at Louise's flat belly, her fair fingers moving swiftly on the phone screen.

[T.R.: Haha! I know you'll come to find me.

T: I'm not to find you.

T.R.: Don't be shy! Why didn't you tell me? Did you want to give me a surprise?]

Tessa closed the chat window directly.

She wanted to go to SD just because her mother used to learn there.

Soon, a message popped out.

[T.R.: You'll come tomorrow, right? I'll wait for you at school.]
