Chapter 10 An Auctioned Necklace

Ashley stood numbly on the spot in disbelief.

Louise said hastily. "Don't worry. There are so many people here that it's inconvenient for him to greet us."

Indeed, some people were staring at them in an unfriendly way.

So Ashley held up her head again. "He must be protecting me from those jealous women."

As they comforted each other, they walked toward the auction hall. But halfway, they suddenly saw Tessa.

"Why is she here?"

Ashley murmured, "She must have come with that strange man."

Louise was angry and panicked. "This is too humiliating!"

If Vance King knew about such a rustic in the Wexler's, she would undoubtedly lose face.

More importantly, it would definitely be a barrier for marrying Ashley into the King's!

"Let's walk faster. They can't go to the auction hall."

So the two quickened their steps into the auction hall.

But after sitting there for a while, Ashley exclaimed.

"Mom, they've also come in!"

"Don't look at them."

Louise's face was dark with anger.

No time could be wasted. She must drive Tessa out of the family as soon as possible.

...

"Boss, what's wrong?" Samuel asked.

Tessa had been frowning as if troubled by something.

This was quite rare.

"Samuel, how can I approach others?"

"You should raise their attention first."

Samuel tossed his blond hair behind, but suddenly, he paused.

Who did the boss want to approach?

Vance King?!

Did she take a fancy to him?

Samuel fidgeted in his chair until he heard Tessa's voice, "Are there ants on your chair? I asked you to raise the bidder card."

At this moment, what was being auctioned was a precious antique European-style necklace of a jewelry swan.

Tessa noticed that Vance had raised his card three times.

The bidding now was 2.75 million yuan.

Samuel shouted hurriedly, "5 million."

The price was doubled all of a sudden. Almost all the people looked at the bidder.

But Vance, still cold-faced, had his gaze steady on the stage.

Louise snorted.

This sucker seemed quite rich.

Since many people liked this necklace, the price continued to soar to 7.2 million.

Sitting beside Vance, Michael raised the card. "10 million."

What a legendary family!

The crowd broke into applause and appraise. Louise and Ashley also looked proud as if they had any relation with the King's.

This price was a little too much for a necklace.

The bidding seemed to stop here.

"20 million."

A calm, soft voice sounded.

Vance suddenly turned his head but only saw her side face.

He sat up straight and tilted his head slightly, but he still couldn't see her clearly.

"30 million."

There was a trace of expectation in his voice.

For others, it was such a surprise, but it also made sense.

Although the price had exceeded the value of the necklace itself, it was not a big deal for Vance King at all.

Just then...

"40 million."

Tessa said casually.

A hot discussion burst out among the astonished crowd.

What shocked them was not the price but the stupidity to compete with Vance!

Ashley looked at Vance expectantly, hoping he would continue to bid.

How could that blond man be richer than the King's?

Eyelids drooped, Vance was silent.

The auctioneer struck the hammer.

Samuel asked in confusion, "Boss, you like that necklace? But it's a little old-fashioned."

Tessa revealed a sly and wilful smile.

Louise's and Ashley's faces were red with fury, while David was observing Samuel.

At the same time...

Michael was sneaking a look at Vance.

Didn't Mr. King say his mother liked this necklace very much? Why did he stop bidding?

It was not his style to give up halfway!

But Michael didn't dare ask anything.

He had been scolded for finding the wrong girl. In this situation, he'd better speak less.
