Chapter 20 The Harassment
Quentin attended the dinner party held by the Lewis Family as the Abyss Group's vice president.
The Abyss Group was founded in the United States. It became a vigorous rising power in the business world over the last ten years at a fantastic speed.
It was currently a significant player in a wide range of industries, including food, real estate, clothing, tourism, leisure, hospitality, etc.
The relocation of such a business giant to S City would undoubtedly affect local industries. Of course, there were both pros and cons as risks were always related to the benefits.
All the influential families in town, larger or smaller, were waiting for a chance to befriend the Abyss Group. After all, it was better to have one more partner than one more rival.
After dealing with those businessmen, Quentin, with a glass of red wine in his hand, stepped out of one corner of the room and walked over to Leo.
"I thought you'd get back the shares Auntie Merilyn left you. Surprisingly, it was Phoenix Apparel you were after."
"You're calculating, indeed. If I didn't know that you founded the Abyss Group and have a grudge against the Lewis Family, I would have believed that you'll work for Harvey Lewis and compete with Oliver, that bastard, for the family fortune in the future."
At Quentin's words, Bree's fascinating figure jumped into Leo's mind.
He remembered clearly the woman's confident and proud expression while she analyzed glibly about his purpose.
Then, Leo intuitively searched for Bree in the crowd, but he failed to capture her figure.
As Leo's wife, Bree was supposed to be one of the main characters at the party. Presumably, however, Hilda had spread the word that she was from an ordinary family. Thus, those ladies and gentlemen were too proud of their own status to pay Bree any mind.
Of course, Bree would not take the initiative to make a fool of herself by striking up a conversation with those people. After filling her belly with a few slices of cake, she walked out of the hall and took a walk in the garden.
"Who is it?" Bree stopped abruptly, looking around alertly.
"Don't be afraid, it's me." A figure stepped out of the shadows of the trees and walked towards Bree.
Oliver Lewis?
Bree furrowed her brows with caution.
"Why are you following me?"
"Don't be nervous." Oliver flashed a tender smile. "You don't know this place well. It's dark and slippery, and I was afraid you'd fall."
Bree did not buy a word of Oliver's. Though his expression was gentle, the look in his eyes gave Bree goosebumps.
"Thank you so much." Bree took a few steps back quietly. "But I don't want to hang around any longer. Take your time, Mr. Lewis."
Oliver had waited so long for the chance to get closer to Bree. So, of course, he would not let her go so easily. He stepped forward to stand in Bree's way.
"What are you doing?"
"What a pretty woman. You're attractive even when you're angry." Oliver reached out his hand to touch Bree's face, but she swatted it away.
"Mr. Lewis, please show some respect."
Touching the hand being hit with the other, Oliver did not get mad but lifted the hand to his nose and sniffed its back obsessively.
Bree felt sick, and her expression became livid.
"Oliver, don't forget that I'm Leo's wife. Don't go too far!"
"Or what?" Oliver thought of something, and he then laughed insolently and arrogantly. "It's not the first time I make a move on Leo's woman."
Bree, however, got no time to make a thorough inquiry of Oliver's words. She tried to buy herself more time while finding a way out.
However, people were enjoying themselves at the party in the hall, and no one was around.
"Nothing good will come of following Leo. You're a smart woman, and you should know what I mean."
Oliver forced Bree into a corner.
Seeing Bree's perfect curves under the dress, Oliver recalled the images that Leo put his hands on her slender waist and danced together with her. The man's eyes flashed with excitement as he reached out to embrace the woman.
Just as Bree was about to give Oliver a kick in the lower body, she was yanked away by a powerful force.
"Leo!"
