Chapter 13 One Million Yuan

"You want to find a job?" Leo looked at the radiant girl with some surprise.

"Yes," Bree nodded. "I am too young to sit around all day and have sent out my resume online to some companies. Actually, I have an interview to attend today."

"But don't you have amnesia? What did you do to your resume?" Leo looked at her with a suspicious look in his eyes.

Bree quickly changed the subject, "Well, I have to scat now as I don't want to be late. I've prepared you something to eat in the fridge. Remember to have some before going to the office!"

...

Bree attended three interviews in the morning and was told to wait for the results.

She was okay with that. Anyhow, she did not expect to find a job in just one day.

Besides, she had lost her memories and did not know anything about her past. She even had no idea what she was good at. Indeed, she should take her time.

After bustling about all the morning, Bree got hungry and wanted to grab something to eat. Just then, someone appeared in her way.

In the café, Bree and Patrice sat opposite each other.

Under Patrice's critical gaze, Bree had coffee in a relaxed manner.

"Here's a million yuan. As long as you divorce Leo, the check will be yours." Patrice looked at Bree arrogantly, as if she was giving her a handout.

Bree almost choked on her coffee. When she eventually caught her breath, she found what was going on hilarious and annoying.

If the person sitting across from her was Hervey, Oliver, or Hilda, she would find it natural.

She never expected Patrice to be the first one to make a move.

"What are you laughing at?" Patrice asked in a sharp voice, feeling offended, "I've seen lots of women like you before, pretty women wanting to marry into a wealthy family."

"But you've got the wrong idea. Leo has married you because he wants the shares his mother left him, and when he gets them, he'll divorce you!"

"Then, why don't you wait for him to divorce me? That'll save you the money."

Patrice fell speechless for a second.

"Do you know why Leo wants his shares back?"

Patrice looked at Bree smugly. Without waiting for an answer, she continued, "Actually, the Lewis Group was originally called the Corbyn Group."

"When Merilyn Corbyn, the only daughter of the Corbyn Family, married Hervey, Hervey naturally joined the group. Then the Corbyn Family suffered a series of changes. First, Mrs. Corbyn died of illness, and then, Mr. Corbyn got killed in a car accident."

"After that, Merilyn fell ill, and gradually, the Corbyn Group became the Lewis Group. Leo must have come back this time to take back his grandfather's company."

Bree initially had some guesses about Leo's feud with the Lewis Family. Patrice's words clarified some puzzles for her.

However, if Hilda married Hervey after Merilyn's death, how could Oliver be older than Leo?

Unless...

"Are you listening to what I'm saying?" Seeing Bree's thoughtful expression, Patrice felt somewhat irritated.

"I'm listening."

"My father is Harold Watts, and the Lewis Group is planning a partnership with my father's company. If Leo marries me, I will convince my father to help Leo take back the Lewis Group."

Patrice added in a confident tone of voice, "If you really like Leo, you should help him fulfill his wish and initiate a divorce!"

The expression on Bree's face paused for a second.

Given what had happened that day at the Lewis Family's house, Bree knew that Hilda would never choose a smart woman for Leo.

However, it was still a surprise that Patrice turned out to be such a simple and naive chubby girl.

Bree suddenly felt sorry for Leo as she saw Patrice's fat from her tight dress.
