Chapter 14 I've Got A Game for You

In the staff cafeteria.

Lynne looked at Nelly, who was sitting across from her and was now stuffing crab and beef rice into her mouth. Lynne felt a little surprised.

Lynne: "Nelly, are you OK?"

"I'm fine." Just a bad conversation with Benjamin. What was wrong with that?

Nelly said she was fine but she knew that "As long as you die" was like a bomb to her, which exploded and injured her badly.

"I'm playing a little stand-alone game. You can download it and play it when you're bored..." Seeing how depressed Nelly was, Lynne was considerate, "It's funny. "

Nelly knew that she was comforting her so she asked her, "What game? Introduce it to me..."

Lynne actually kind of regretted just mentioning this game. Because the ending of that little game was particularly bad.

But Nelly seemed to be looking forward to it, so Lynne had to give her the download link and said, "Your Chicks. It's a simulation game. Have you ever played QQ Pets? Pretty much the same as that one. But instead of a silly penguin, this pet is a cute little yellow chicken. You usually have to take care of it as if it were your own child, and you have to play with it. So that it can grow and thrive and be satisfied both mentally and physically. How about that? Is it especially good for little girls to play with?"

"Little girls... Nelly stopped drinking her water and held back from telling Lynne that she was actually married. She replied casually, "It... feels easy to get on with."

"And it'll call you mommy. But I'll warn you that this chick will... end up being canned meat."

"So anti-human?" Nelly was surprised.

"Right! When my Yellow One died, I cursed the game designers. Are they taking revenge on society?" It seemed that Lynne missed her pet very much.

Nelly patted her sympathetically on the shoulder and something suddenly occurred to her, "Lynne, can the player name that little yellow chicken?"

"Yes. Any word symbol that you can think of can be its name."

Nelly said "okay" meaningfully. She then changed the subject, "Did you have a problem with Jasmine?"

Lynne paused for a moment, "What? No, we're good."

If they were really that close, she wouldn't be lowering her head as if she'd fallen out of love?

Nelly asked calmly, "Did I cause problems in your friendship?"

"Yes..." Lynne answered Nelly's question silently with a sad look in her eyes.

Nelly felt sorry for her, "You brought me lunch so she hates you?"

Lynne felt sad. She hadn't said anything yet, but Nelly had understood everything.

Today, everyone knew the rumor that Nelly was going to be the manager, so Jasmine, who was just a team leader was busy inciting people to buy gifts to bribe Nelly.

But it turned out that it was a misunderstanding.

Almost as soon as everyone took back their gifts, Lynne, who was in the outermost circle, hadn't given the gift she had prepared to Nelly. As long as she silently put the gift away and didn't give it to Nelly, Nelly wouldn't blame her and Jasmine would continue to be her friend.

But she ended up giving the gift to Nelly.

Life had its ups and downs. People often didn't need you to make things better, but they couldn't forget that you did them a favor when they were in trouble.

A small, worthless gift brought Lynne and Nelly closer; her co-workers in the same department began to isolate her though.

After dinner, Nelly returned to work with Lynne together. It was obvious to her that Lynne seemed determined to side with her, having a pleasant chat with her and not caring about what others thought of her at all.

After a few more conversations, they returned to their seats and worked. Nelly quieted down. However, she didn't think of her work, but of Benjamin Longman's words, "I'll be satisfied if you go to hell!" Her face looked pale as the dim light of the computer monitor reflected on her face.

"Your Chicks?" She said to herself. And then she opened the web page, typed in the link, then clicked on the download button and minimized the window. She loafed on the job methodically.

There was soon a reminder sound of the completion of the downloader. She double-clicked on the mouse to install the program and the game interface appeared, which was so simple that it could almost be described as rudimentary.

The little yellow chicken was fat and round, with a red face and a tuft of hair on its forehead. If you poked it with the mouse, its breasts would shake.

But that was not what Nelly was concerned about. She looked at the name, snorted, and quickly typed in "Benjamin Longman".

Sharp-tongue jerk, I would kill you before I died!

Nelly immediately got excited at the thought of Benjamin bleeding and being squeezed to death by the machine.

But Nelly didn't know that the department's QQ group was already buzzing with excitement.

But this had nothing to do with Nelly, because she had never been invited to the group.

Before her promotion, she was a handyman, and after her promotion, she was the CEO's lover. Who would be so stupid to let someone who could be intimate with the CEO anytime, anywhere join the QQ group?

Because the favorite thing for employees to do when they got together was to talk and complain about the leaders humorously.

Jasmine Wilson: Shit! Look what I see. Nelly Jones is playing a game! Somebody should call Faye Lee and get them to fight!

Girl A: Miss Lee? She's been looking weird since she came out of the CEO's office. Supposedly Nelly Jones was there at the time! Are they fooling around with Mr. Longman in there?

Girl B and Girl C... joined the gossip one by one.

Lynne: You guys have gone too far!

Less than two seconds after the message was sent, Lynne saw the message bar in the bottom right corner of her computer screen flashing rapidly: You have been removed from the group by the administrator.

"..." Lynne felt speechless and helpless.

Jasmine Wilson: Little traitor. If I don't teach her a lesson, she'll think she could rely on Nelly Jones!

A row of complimentary QQ emojis was sent by colleagues immediately below.
