Chapter 11 Her Ex-boyfriend

"Mom, you scared her." James frowned. His mother was overly out-going!

But Rosa simply ignored him and walked up to Stars, her eyes filled with admiration. "Can you tell me how you made Alice finish the meal?"

Now that Alice was willing to sleep in Stars's arms, it must be Stars who had fed her at noon.

What an awesome woman Mr. Lopez had introduced! She won both James's and Alice's favor!

"Well..." Stars didn't know how to answer. After all, she had done nothing more than winning Alice's favor.

But she couldn't say in such an annoying way.

"Mom..." James warned again, trying to stop her from scaring Stars with her enthusiasm.

"Oh, don't keep bothering me. Mind your own business!" Rosa got impatient with her son. She just wanted to chat with Stars, not to cut his meat. "I know you like your girlfriend, but you can't stop me from making friends!"

Girl-girlfriend?

Stars explained hurriedly, "No, we're ..."

"I understand." Rosa raised a hand to stop Stars from explaining. "I was once young, so I know your feelings. You like each other but haven't fallen in love. You're trying to know more about each other, right? I really understand."

Stars was rendered speechless. She hadn't explained anything! What had James's mother understood?

It was a surprise that Stars was outspoken by someone else! How his mother was treating her now was just like how she had treated him.

He hadn't said anything, and she had claimed, "I understand."

He was amused into smiling by Stars's helpless look. For the sake of "girlfriend," he compromised to Rosa, "All right, I'll go to the study. Mom, please help me take care of Stars."

Rosa waved her hand, signaling him to leave quickly. Then, she turned to Stars and put her palms together. "Please tell me the secret of your success! Please!"

She was so worried about her little granddaughter.

Noticing the glass pieces on the ground, she decided to change a better place to chat. "Let's go downstairs. I'll make you my favorite tea."

James went back to the study and closed the door. Putting away his easy-going side, he became as cold as usual.

"Mr. Green," Head lowered, John Brown reported respectfully, "I've investigated Stars White's background. She..."

James raised a hand to stop him. "I don't need it now."

He had ordered John to do this investigation after his first meeting with Stars, the first woman who Alice treated differently. When he was curious about her, he also needed to be wary of her.

But after these days, he didn't think it necessary to be on guard against her anymore. In his view, she was just a poor careless woman who had an unknown relationship with the Whites.

Besides, she was a woman who Howard Lopez had introduced to him.

John held his tongue immediately.

"You can leave now if nothing else." James frowned at the mounting pile of documents on his desk while thinking that, if he finished the work earlier, he could then chat with Stars downstairs.

Although she always struck him dumb, she was quite...

Interesting!

"Sir, even if it may annoy you, I have to tell you Stars White is not a simple woman. Her ex-boyfriend is..." John took a step forward and whispered a name to James's ear.

The living room.

Stars and Rosa were chatting cheerfully.

While savoring tea, Rosa said the tea leaves were what she had picked from Wudang Mountains in person. Hearing that, Stars told that she had once learned martial arts there. Although it was hard, she felt very happy during those days.

Rosa got so excited that she could barely repress her impulse to thump the table. She confirmed it several times to Stars before she finally believed Stars could play Kung Fu.

They even had a friendly rivalry with their hands.

After all, both of them loved Kung Fu.

After a few rounds, Rosa found she was no match for Stars at all. She learned martial arts out of interest, but Stars was a real fighter.

As such, Rosa had an even better impression of Stars.

In her opinion, a woman willing to learn martial arts these days was a real gem.

A real martial-art learner was always broad-minded, fore-sighted, and kind-hearted. Rosa would rather such a woman than a fragile, rich lady to be her daughter-in-law.

"Stars, you must come here more frequently. I want to learn some moves from you." Rosa said and then sighed. "James is too strict on me. He's afraid I would get hurt and doesn't let others teach me seriously. So although I've learned quite long, my skills are still far from good."

"He cares about you." Stars was surprised that James had such a warm side. He not only loved his daughter but also cared about his mother, in which he could excel many fathers or sons in this world.

"Mrs. Murphy," a servant said, "there's a call from Mrs. Mill, but Mr. Green is busy. Are you going to answer it?"

"Humph! It's his woman. Why must I answer the phone for him? Tell her I'm busy coaxing Alice to sleep!" She had a visceral dislike of Lucy Mill.

Needless to say, that woman must need a favor, or she wouldn't have called home!

"Yes, madam." The servant left.

Stars listened to their conversation quietly...

James's woman? Stars guessed it was James's wife. But according to what she had heard, James and his wife didn't seem to have divorced! They were still a couple!

"Were you talking about Alice's mother?" Stars asked in a calm tone.

During this afternoon, Alice's mother hadn't shown up once; It was Mrs. Reed who had been taking care of Alice; Besides, James had proposed to her in a sense... Considering these clues, she believed Alice's mother was either divorced or dead.

But that was not true!

She had just had a good impression of James for his love for family, but the cruel fact was telling her how naive she was to trust him!

She suddenly felt cheated, humiliated, and irritated!

Rosa said with a sour face, "Yes, she's so busy that she has no time to come home or care about her daughter. Humph! Who does she think she is?"

Only when she needed James's help, she would come home and pretend to be nice to Alice.

Since she was Alice's mother and James didn't like to be bothered by a woman, he just satisfied all her requests every time.

Stars's voice became cold. "So, they are not divorced?"

Fuck!

He was a two-timer!

How could he propose to her when he had a wife?

"Divorced? Of course not. They..."

"Jackass!"

Stars couldn't hide her anger.

This man must have kept his marriage as a secret, or Grandpa Howard wouldn't have introduced him to her. In her view, there was only one reason for a man to hide his marriage-- that was he wanted to continue his debauchery!

When she thought of his flirting behaviors, she felt exceptionally disgusted. She gave the little girl to Rosa and said, "Please tell James Green, don't bother me anymore!"
