Chapter 10 Feeding Her Water

Stars was troubled and amused.

All right, now that she didn't have work today, she might as well spend some time with this little girl who had taken a liking to her at first sight.

She paced the room with Alice in her arms. The rich were rich! Even the bathroom here was bigger than the flat where she lived.

She didn't know how long it had lasted when she turned around at a corner again and saw a man at the door.

It was James Green.

Thinking of his whisper to her ear, she removed her sight away from his face unnaturally.

"You've held her for so long. You must be tired. Just put her down." He knew how heavy his daughter was, but Mrs. Reed reported that Stars had been holding Alice.

"I'm fine with this," she said. "I can take it as a chance to build my body."

"Then, drink some water." He raised a glass of water.

"Thank you." She released an arm from the posture of holding.

She had to admit that Alice, though thin, was quite heavy, possibly because of the high density of her bones.

As such, Alice might also be a talent for martial arts. One with stronger bones proved less likely to fracture or get seriously hurt for being beaten.

When Stars wanted to take the glass, James didn't give it to her but raised it to her mouth directly.

It was obvious that he wanted to feed her.

Stars was driven crazy!

This was too much, even if he meant to persuade her to be Alice's nanny! He didn't need to make himself like a male prostitute!

The type that was considerate to a rich woman!

She turned her head sideways. "I'm not thirsty. Thanks!"

He didn't know what he had done to offend her.

He fed her water just to thank her for holding his heavy daughter for so long.

Just at this moment, Mrs. Reed informed him, "Sir, Mrs. Murphy has come."

Stars was confused. Who was Mrs. Murphy?

James put down the glass. "She's my mom. She might come here to feed Alice. I forgot to tell her you're here."

Why did it sound so intimate?

She shook her head to stop herself from thinking nonsense.

She believed, if James Green came down in the world one day, he could work in a nightclub to serve those rich women who would like his way of talking very much.

"I think I'd better go." His mother might feel strange when she saw a stranger holding Alice.

"No. My mom is kind. Wait for me here." After saying that, he left the room.

What? Whether his mother was kind or not seemed to have nothing to do with her. Why did his words always capture her imaginations?

Stars revealed a wry smile.

"Mom," James greeted his mother respectfully as he went downstairs and saw her coming in.

Rosa Murphy had been used to her son's taciturn, and she didn't mind that. After all, a cool man was always better than a chatterbox.

She took off the scarf and threw it onto the sofa casually. "Alice hasn't eaten anything, right? I was too busy at noon, or I could have come earlier. Mrs. Reed, please prepare some food for Alice. I'm going to feed her."

"Mrs. Murphy, the little princess has finished the meal," Mrs. Reed reported.

"Ah?" Rosa was dubious. "She has felt better?"

She contributed Alice's hunger strike to a symptom of autism.

James replied, "Yes."

Of course, it was thanks to Stars.

"Great!" Rosa Murphy sighed with relief.

He said, "Mom, you can go back now. Alice is sleeping..."

Bang!

Suddenly, a cracking sound of glass came from upstairs. Then, a servant shouted nervously, "Miss White!"

On hearing that, James darted to the second floor without hesitation!

After hearing the noise and especially seeing his son's reaction, Rosa was greatly shocked. "Mrs. Reed, did I mishear it? Miss White? James hides a woman at home?"

He seemed to care about that woman very much!

Driven by a strong curiosity, Rosa also wanted to rush upstairs.

But Mrs. Reed got into her way in time. James apparently didn't want to let his mother know Stars's presence. "Mrs. Murphy..."

Rosa was displeased. "Mrs. Reed, although I'm old, I'm still a good fighter."

Mrs. Reed gave way in silence.

Old but vigorous, Rosa charged upstairs by taking two steps at a time.

When James reached the room, he saw the broken window and the glass pieces on the ground. Not far away, Stars was staring at the window in astonishment.

He strode over, looking her up and down. "Hurt?"

Hearing his voice, she looked over her shoulder in excitement. "There's a big eagle in your yard! Is it yours?"

Just now, she had seen a blackbird flying low past the window. When she had approached, an aggressive eagle had flown at her and broken the window with its sharp beak!

Without a servant's help, it might have entered the room and bitten her.

Good Lord, there were so many treasures here!

Her fearless, spirited face made him wonder how brave her heart was.

Seeing that she didn't get hurt, he was then relieved. "Aren't you scared?"

"No. There's nothing to be scared. I once participated in a wilderness survival competition and got the first prize." She looked more than proud. Then, she thought of his first question and said, "Don't worry. Alice wasn't hurt. I dodged very quickly, just now."

James looked down at his daughter, who was still in a sound sleep with dribble at a corner of her lips. She was well protected. "I was asking you."

Stars's heart was sent going pit-a-pat by his care and magnetic voice again. She looked away, hurriedly and murmured, "I, I, I'm fine."

Rosa had stood at the door for a few seconds and heard their conversation.

I was asking you.

What the hell? Why didn't she know her son had the ability to care about others?

"This is..." She entered the room with a meaningful smile and surveyed the woman who was holding Alice.

Stars was pretty with a small face and delicate facial features. Even if she had a fresh-faced look, she was more gorgeous than most women with a lot of makeup.

The point was that Alice was willing to sleep in her arms!

Amazing! This was so amazing!

Stars looked at the elegant woman who, judging by age, should be James's mother.

This was...

So embarrassing!

Stars could only introduce herself, "I'm Stars White, James's..."

"Stars White?" Rosa looked more than surprised. "You're the one who has an engagement with James?"

Stars hadn't expected James's mother to know about this. In theory, James wasn't a man who would tell others his private affairs.

After all, no one would take engagement with a stranger seriously.

Rosa rubbed her chin as she examined Stars's face. "I didn't expect too much when Mr. Lopez mentioned this. But now, my eyes tell me I was wrong. I like you!"

What an enthusiastic old lady!

Stars thought.
