Chapter 9 Seduction

"No."

Stars shook her head.

"In my view, marriage is very holy. Only when two people love each other can they get married. I think you need a nanny, not a wife."

When James wanted to say something —

"Wow!" Stars's attention was drawn to a line of sports cars. She ran over, stopped in front of a limited edition, and stroked its shiny hood. "Oh my! Are these all yours?"

"You like cars?" He was suddenly curious about how she had grown up. What had brought her to martial arts and sports cars?

She wasn't like any other women he had ever met.

"Yes, to some degree." She sighed slightly as the cars glutted her eyes. Only the rich could enjoy such luxury!

Even if she took out all her savings earned as a stand-in, she couldn't afford any tire of any car here.

At this moment, her eyes were as bright as her name implied. He looked at her greedy face and got an idea. "If you marry me, you can use anything I have."

That meant what she would own were not only the cars in the garage.

But Stars drew back her hand from the car instantly. "Come on, don't you remember what I've told you?"

Then, she left the garage, hands clasped behind her back.

Being rejected again, James began doubting whether she was too stubborn or he was not charming enough.

As Stars walked into the house, she was soon attracted by its furnishings.

It was basically a European style, elegant and pleasant. Every corner and detail was worth appreciating.

"Miss White?" Mrs. Reed was surprised to meet her here.

Had Mr. Green made it?

Had Stars White agreed to be a nanny?

Stars drew back her sight. "Hi, I'd like you to call me Stars." Then, she thought of what James had told her and asked, "Where is Alice?"

"In the third room on the second floor. She didn't eat anything today." Mrs. Reed was very worried.

On the plate Mrs. Reed was holding, the delicate food remained untouched. "I can have a try."

Then, she took the plate and went upstairs.

The third room.

Stars saw the little girl with her back to the slightly opened door. Her small figure contrasted strongly with the large bed, magnifying her loneliness and helplessness.

Stars knocked at the door.

Knock-knock.

Alice turned a deaf ear to the sound and remained unmoved.

Stars said in a pitiful tone, "Seems I'm not welcomed. I think I'd better come here another day."

Hearing her voice, Alice suddenly sat up straight and looked round in amazement.

When she saw Stars's face, she sprang out of bed excitedly and pattered to hold Stars's thighs!

Then, she looked up at Stars and smiled with her crescent-like eyes.

Stars had two steps backward as Alice pounced at her with unexpected strength. The next second, she lost her balance and almost dropped the plate from her hand.

Just then, she felt warm on her waist.

She was caught in someone's arms.

The hug was as cozy and solid as the one several days ago.

James took over the plate, and somehow, whispered to her ear, "Be careful."

As he said, his warm breath was blown into her sensitive ear. Suddenly, she was goose-flesh all over.

"Ah!"

She screamed and spanned herself out of his hug!

"You, you, you..." She rubbed her ear fiercely. Had he done it on purpose?

Was he seducing her?

She had to admit that he really loved his daughter!

Seeing her angry and shy look, he revealed an inconspicuous smile.

She always talked like a worldly woman, but to his surprise, she was so easily bashful.

He had done nothing more than saying something to her.

When James lowered his head, he found a big smile on his daughter's face as she looked at Stars.

Touched by Alice's sweet happiness, he made a decision secretly.

After the quiver disappeared in her cochlea, Stars was resolute to ignore James. She walked up to Alice with an amiable smile. "Alice, I heard that you hadn't eaten much these days."

As she said that, she held the little girl up in her arms.

Alice threw a complaining look at James. How could he tell Stars about this?

James shrugged his shoulders. If he hadn't done so, how would Stars come here?

Stars didn't notice their interaction. She carried Alice into the room and said, "Alice, you should eat more. Do you want me to feed you?"

On hearing that, Alice bobbed her head with excitement.

Stars placed Alice on a rabbit-shaped stool, in front of which was a carrot-shaped table. All the furniture in this room had rounded corners. Since it was not sold in the market, it must be customized.

Unlike the luxurious living room, Alice's bedroom was simple and lovely. More importantly, every detail showed the considerate protection for the room owner.

Stars was amazed again: What a good father James was!

Actually, Alice didn't need Stars to feed her. She ate the rice and the soup with the spoon all on her own.

After finishing her meal, she gave Stars a big smile, waiting for her praise and encouragement.

Stars raised her hand and wiped away the rice around Alice's mouth. "Well done, Alice! You finished the meal by yourself!"

Alice's smile suddenly became wider. At the same time, the dimple on her right cheek also turned deeper.

Mrs. Reed was standing at the door. During these days, she had been prohibited from entering the room by the unhappy princess. However, Stars could not only get in smoothly but make Alice finish a meal easily.

It was noted that even Mrs. Murphy had to coax and feed to have Alice eat a bit.

"It's so amazing!" Mrs. Reed couldn't help praising.

James had also been standing at the door. His eyes had rested on Stars's back for a long while.

Alice had been on a hunger strike for two days. Even with his mother's help, Alice only ate a little a day, which worried him very much.

After trying all possible ways, he could only ask Stars for help and wished her to feed Alice slightly more. To his astonishment, Alice ate up the food after meeting Stars.

This woman had surprised him again and again!

Stars didn't leave immediately, or it would appear like she was just doing a task.

To thank Alice for her trusting, Stars accompanied her to play toy bricks.

After playing for a while, Alice became quiet in Stars's arms. Stars looked down and found the little girl had fallen asleep with her head tilted to one side.

Stars smiled. A child was a child. She ate, played, and slept, having an enviably simple life.

Stars held Alice up and walked at the bed. As she placed Alice onto the comfortable mattress, Alice suddenly felt insecure and puckered her face, ready to cry. Seeing that, Stars carried the little girl up hastily.

It was amazing that Alice's face relaxed immediately. Soon, she fell into a sound sleep again.
