Chapter 8 She's My Woman
James asked on purpose, "What about my request?"
Stars gritted her teeth. How could he fish in troubled waters? "I'll visit Alice when I'm free, but I won't be a nanny or... marry you!"
For the first time, he knew what it was like to be frowned upon.
Why was she so reluctant to marry him?
He stared at her small face and found her facial features were quite delicate.
But contrary to her sweet appearance, she had a hot temper and an uncompromising attitude.
Afraid to piss her off, he decided not to push her too hard. "Deal."
His agreement soon emboldened her. Since she often watched others acting, it was not difficult for her to assume a domineering manner. "Mr. Green, she said the poor and dogs are not allowed in here. I admit I'm poor, but who's the dog?"
There was a sudden cold shiver of fear running through Kitty!
She glared at Stars, who misinterpreted her words on purpose. This would kill her!
She explained hurriedly, "Mr. Green, I was talking about her, not you. Don't listen to her!"
She had been given a demerit for the thing about the little princess. If James Green misunderstood her again, what should she do?
"But I'm Mr. Green's woman. Someone seemed to be defaming me, but she was actually humiliating Mr. Green. Am I right?" Stars didn't want to miss the chance to punish Kitty.
James looked down at the woman who was a head shorter than him.
She had just rejected his proposal so bluntly, why did she become his woman now?
But it sounded nice.
"You..." Kitty felt like crying with rage. Chest heaving, she planned to spread Stars's scandal again!
Mr. Green wouldn't want a dirty woman like her!
Kitty pretended to wipe her tears and said deliberately, "Stars, I know you hate me. You think I took your opportunity to be intimate with a ..."
"She's indeed my woman," James suddenly said.
Kitty was interrupted.
Stars looked up at his face in great shock. He was cooperating with her!
If he hadn't spoken in time, Kitty would have exposed her scandal that had happened three years ago again!
At the same time, Stars couldn't help praising this great father. For his daughter, he was willing to do anything.
"Mr. Green, I, I..." Kitty bit her lower lip. She was astonished that he would speak for Stars.
As such, she could only stop her trick so as not to provoke James.
However reluctant she was, she had to lower her head and apologize, "I'm sorry."
These two people didn't recognize each other and might have only met once in the warehouse. What brought them together again? Kitty found it hard to accept this result.
She had to admit that Stars was excellent at charming a man!
"Kitty, who are you saying sorry to?" Stars didn't intend to let go of her so easily.
She decided to make Kitty pay for kicking her, locking her in the warehouse, and humiliating her just now.
With a red face, Kitty grasped her clothes with strength. Hatred was burning in her heart.
But with James's presence, she had no choices but to compromise, "I'm sorry to Mr. Green and you..."
"Who am I?" Stars asked deliberately.
Kitty's eyes blazed with fury. She stressed every syllable as she said, "I am sorry to Stars White!"
After saying that, a trace of maliciousness flashed across her eyes.
Stars's triumphant look made her gnash her teeth. She wondered how Lucy Mill would punish Stars if she knew about this.
Smoothly, Stars got the three apologies which corresponded to the three evil things Kitty had done. With a snort, she left directly.
After going out of the club, she looked around to make sure Kitty couldn't see them. Then, she released James's arm and cupped her fist. "Thank you!"
That was quite a spirited and heroic bearing.
He was amused and smiled. "My pleasure." Then, he asked, "Are you free now?"
"Why?" She became somewhat alert.
Oh, she had been just acting. Had he taken it seriously?
"If you have time, follow me to my house. Alice is on a hunger strike and hasn't eaten much for two days."
He frowned deeply as he thought of his stubborn daughter.
During these two days, only his mother could persuade Alice to eat a little.
Although Alice seemed indifferent to the outside world like other autistic children, James could feel that she just didn't bother to pay attention most of the time.
Anyway, she was respectful to the elders at ordinary times.
"Hunger strike?" Stars was surprised.
"Yes." He looked at her worried face and added meaningfully, "For you."
"Oh my! Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Anxiously, she stamped her foot and waved her hand. "Let's go!"
A hunger strike was not a small matter for a child! Why hadn't he mentioned this earlier but said bullshit like "marry me"?
Marry me.
Her heart missed a beat as she recalled his serious look when saying these two words.
She was not a god, after all. Any woman would feel excited when a rich handsome man proposed to her.
James was somewhat unsatisfied with Stars's reaction. She seemed to care much more about Alice's health than his proposal.
He was so much less important than Alice?
Humph!
The Green's.
Stars was amazed by the villa in front of her. Oh no, not a villa. To be exact, it was a castle!
Outside the building was a lawn that was as large as a regular football field. Carefully tended, the grass was green and lush.
Stars's jaw dropped. In a city where the land price was surging, he used such big space for only grass!
"We've arrived," he reminded. The car had stopped for half a minute, but she was still looking around.
"Oh." She withdrew her attention and got out of the car.
Although the White's was also a villa with a lawn, it couldn't compete with this one at all.
"You're so rich," she exclaimed. "Don't worry. Now that you're rich and handsome, it'll easy for you to find a wife. The disease is not a big deal."
"Disease?" He didn't know what was in her head.
"Yes, or why do you have a daughter but no wife?" Then, she added, "No need to explain. I'm an adult. I understand."
Once married to a man like him, who would be willing to leave him?
After all, marrying him meant a whole life of wealth and comfort.
So it must be some disease on him that disappointed his wife and thus destroyed his marriage.
James found that he really couldn't follow her train of thought. She considered him as a patient first, and then, before he could speak, she said she understood.
After a few seconds, he asked, "So this was the reason you rejected my proposal?"
