Chapter 14 A Bad Example
Terry furrowed his brows, feeling slightly agitated.
He did not touch Brenda's dress when they were both in the room.
What had happened to the woman's dress had nothing to do with him.
However, his putting the coat upon Brenda was no different from saying publicly that he had some ulterior motives.
That kiss between him and Brenda had messed his heart.
While the atmosphere was getting more and more oppressive, Jimmy reached out his head from his father, who was standing in front of him.
"Brenda, do you feel cold? Why are you wearing Dad's coat?"
That was enough!
Brenda felt embarrassed as hell, wondering why her dress had slid down all of a sudden.
Cathy, on the other hand, lowered her head. It was a pity that what she wished to see did not happen in the end.
Cathy had provided Brenda that dress, and she had specially done something to it while she and Brenda were in the vehicle coming over to let the latter embarrass herself at the party.
In fact, Cathy had already arranged some journalists to capture such a scene.
Unfortunately, it had happened at the wrong time.
To break the silence, Cathy volunteered to say, "Brenda, let me take you home now. There are too many people coming and leaving here. Things would become complicated for Mr. Lee and Mr. Lloyd if those journalists happened to capture this."
At Cathy's words, Brenda's face turned pale and then red.
It was true that she was an actress with a bad public image.
Any man who wanted to get close to her had to think about the damages she might bring to his reputation.
It was an accident that her dress had slid down, and she had felt extremely awkward about it. However, once those annoying paparazzi saw it, they would smear Brenda by saying that she had deliberately let it happen to take the spotlight.
"I am fine on my own," said Brenda in a broken voice.
Her departing back looked weak, and her steps were shaky.
Hank cast a glance at the expressionless Terry to make sure he had no intention to take action.
Then, Hank volunteered to help Brenda by saying, "Miss Shaw, I will take you home. I am not scared of gossip. On the contrary, it'll be an honor."
With that, he intended to catch up with Brenda.
Unexpectedly, Jimmy rushed over to Hank and grabbed him by the leg. "Uncle Hank, you can't chase after Brenda."
"Why?"
"Brenda is mine! I've kissed her!" Jimmy lifted his head.
Hank lowered his head to tease the little boy by saying, "A little boy's kiss means nothing, and I'll give Brenda a kiss later."
Taking the man's words seriously, Jimmy replied anxiously, "Only adults' kissing make sense? Actually, my father..."
At this moment, Terry picked Jimmy up and covered his mouth to prevent him from keeping saying.
And he then said to the other man with an emotionless expression on his face, "Hank, stop being a bad example in front of my son."
Hank rolled his eyes, thinking that it was Terry himself who had been a bad example to the kid.
...
At this moment, Brenda had disappeared from their sight completely.
She hailed a taxi and got back to her rented place.
Feeling like she had been set on fire, she rushed into the bathroom and showered cold water over her head and body.
Until her body temperature had decreased, Brenda slid down along the wall like a deflated balloon.
She somehow managed to get into bed and soon fell asleep. The next morning, someone knocked on her door and woke her up.
After tidying herself up, she went to open the door. However, no one was out there.
Who was playing such a boring trick on her early in the morning?
Brenda slammed the door shut.
Before she could return her bed, the knock on the door continued.
Once again, she opened it and saw no one, feeling furious.
Just as she was about to give vent to a torrent of abuse, she heard a crispy sound of laughter.
Lowering her head, she saw Jimmy crouching before her like a mushroom. No wonder she did not see him earlier.
Jimmy beamed with joy and said, "Brenda, do you know that though eyes of an owl are huge, they cannot look up and down."
Brenda pretended to be angry. "How dare you call me an owl!"
"Nope, you're way worse than an owl. They can rotate their heads to see around, but you can't."
Brenda fell speechless.
