Chapter 22 What the Hell?
Just as Christine was about to ask the first candidate to leave, Nate flew into a rage.
He smashed a teacup onto the floor, shouting, "What the fuck? Get lost! Next!"
That girl turned pale in shock and hurried to leave.
"Did you choose that girl to piss me off?" Nate, a fifty-year-old man, yelled at Christine.
As a businessman, his purpose of running a company or brand was to make a fortune. How could a brand ambassador like that girl do any good to his business?
He simply did not want to spare an extra glance at her!
Mona curled up her lips into a smug smile and walked up to Nate, saying, "President Law. People have their ups and downs. I'm sure Director Smith didn't mean it. She probably has been too busy recently. Am I right, Director Smith?"
Still, Christine did not defend herself. After Mona's performance, Christine said in a calm tone of voice, "President Law. Wrong candidates will help us see more clearly what kind of person we need. I will always attach high significance to Rainbow's development. Please don't worry."
Nate snorted and said nothing else. He would like to see what Christine was going to show him next.
At this moment, the second candidate entered the room. She looked much better than the first one. However, while performing a dancing, she accidentally sprained her ankle and fell to the floor.
Christine widened her eyes in shock but got nothing to do with that.
Nate flew into a rage again, and Mona volunteered to step forward to soothe his mood.
The following candidates performed better and better. However, none of them could satisfy Nate, not to mention Christine.
When nine candidates finished their presentations, Nate's patience eventually ran out. He shouted at Christine, "Look at what you've got! You've got to be kidding me!"
He continued, "We'd agreed on October to make the decision on the brand ambassador. It's you who has said that everything is ready and we can finish it in September. But look at what is going on. I doubt that you simply want to destroy Rainbow."
Christine replied in a serene tone, "The best always comes the last. Since I've decided to advance it, I've got fully prepared."
After taking a deep breath, Nate said, "Fine. This is your last chance."
The tenth candidate eventually entered the room. It was a girl around twenty years old, who was wearing a long beige dress and a wooden hairpin in her long dark hair, giving off a vintage vibe. It was fair to say that she matched Rainbow's image the best among all the candidates.
The girl walked up to the guqin, stared at the strings with a detached look in her eyes, and then started to play it.
Her appearance and movements easily attracted everyone's attention. The room fell silent, and people held their breathing as if they were looking at a delicate fairy.
Christine did not pay much attention to those candidates before this one but did not mind to make this girl the brand ambassador if she was going to give a wonderful show.
However, while listening to the girl's performance closely, Christine noticed that she was nervous and concluded that her detachment and temperament were all fake.
What was fake was fake. Even though she could cheat everyone in a short period, she would eventually expose herself in the long run.
Christine tilted her head to look at Nate. He looked quite satisfied with the girl. What could Christine do then?
While she was lost in thoughts, the girl made a mistake. The rest of her performance flopped, and the detachment on her face was gradually replaced by anxiety.
Christine then realized that it was all arranged by Mona. What a sophisticated plan.
In the end, Nate became furious once again and threw another teacup onto the floor.
He initially thought the tenth candidate was different from the others. However, her lousy performance had deeply disappointed the man, and inevitably, the disappointment intensified his fury.
