Chapter 20 Sheldon's Extravagance
So, one of the two unlisted candidates was Lora.
That year, Lora failed her college entrance examinations, and Christine had just entered the workplace. Their father asked Christine to have Lora around, and she did not refuse him.
Back then, Kevin was quite nice to Christine and was willing to lend money to her. In terms of material life, Christine had always put her sister before herself.
She also remembered that when Lora got paid for the first time, the two of them went out for a meal to celebrate.
They used to be on good terms with each other. Who had happened to deteriorate their relationship?
Christine suddenly recalled that Lora's first job was to be a model for a second-tier clothing brand. Each show could bring her eight hundred yuan or so. And it was Kevin who had introduced this work to Lora.
Could it be that the two of them had started their secretive relationship from that time?
At this moment, Lora's voice sounded again to interrupt Christine's thinking, "Why aren't you saying anything? You don't want me to be there, do you?"
"Well, I will be there, no matter how, and I'm getting the job. Kevin will make sure that I will succeed. So, just wait for it."
With that, she hung up.
Christine stared at the phone. It seemed that it was Kevin's idea.
Judging from Lora's tone and what Mona had said earlier, Christine concluded that to make sure Lora would become Rainbow Design's brand ambassador, Kevin had bribed Mona.
Christine tightened her grip on the cell phone, her knuckles turning pale.
Jane asked worriedly, "What's going on?"
Christine pinched the place between her brows, answering, "Nothing severe, I can deal with it. But Jane, I have some work for you to do later."
"No problem. Just leave it to me."
When Christine finished combing through her recent work, it was already time for lunch.
For the sake of the child in her belly, Christine decided to have regular meals. Just as she stood up, however, Jane pushed the door open and entered the office, shouting excitedly, "Christine, your lunch is here."
Behind Jane, many people were craning their necks to look into the office.
It was just a meal. Why were those people getting excited? Noticing the lunch box in Jane's hand, Christine instantly realized what had led to the fuss.
It was because Jane was holding a wooden lunchbox with the logo of Tasty Restaurant on it. And it was widely known that Tasty Restaurant's takeout cost eight hundred yuan at least.
What kind of white collar could spend eight hundred yuan on a meal?
Sheldon's arrogant face and domineering demeanor suddenly appeared in Christine's mind. Only that man would have done something like this. Helplessly, Christine pinched the place between her brows.
"Christine, this is from your husband, isn't it? He is so kind to you! I mean, this is takeout from Tasty Restaurant!"
Jane placed the lunchbox on the desk and removed the lid for Christine. Instantly, the aroma of the two delicate dishes and soup filled the room.
At Jane's words and her loud swallowing, Christine could not help but let out a smile.
"Thanks, Jane. Why don't you join me?" said Christine.
"No, thank you. I will go to the canteen. It is a single set and is not enough for two of us." With that, Jane walked out of the office.
Christine then started her lunch. Her appetite had been quite good these days, and the food was just enough for her to fill her stomach.
When she finished the meal and was tidying up the desk, Jane entered the room again with a bouquet of roses.
"Christine, here are your flowers."
Christine picked up the card from the bouquet and saw that there was only a simple smiling face on it.
It must come from Sheldon as well. What the hell did he want?
"Jane, please help me put the flowers in a vase," said Christine.
"Okay. These flowers are gorgeous. Look, there are water beads on them. Christine, I am so jealous of you." While searching for a vase, Jane said.
