Chapter 19 The List of Candidates
Witnessing Mona's performance, Christine realized that what she had said was true.
During Christine's absence, Mona volunteered to shoulder the former's duties on the grounds that Christine was badly in need of a good rest, and Mr. Law naturally agreed with her.
Before Christine could say anything, Jane spoke up for her, "Manager Cook. Director Smith has been in charge of Rainbow's development all the time. Are you sure you'll do a good job of deciding on the brand ambassador? I don't think you know better than her what kind of person Rainbow needs."
Mona snorted, replying in a somewhat rude tone of voice, "What makes you join the conversation between your seniors? Anyway, I'm now in charge of determining the brand ambassador. Director Smith, if you're disgruntled, you can go to Mr. Law at any time."
In fact, Christine and Mona had long been on bad terms with each other. This time, the war between the two started officially.
In the workplace, if one's colleague managed to take his or her work away while they were absent. It simply meant that they were not far from being kicked out.
Christine, of course, would not go to Mr. Law, their boss, for an explanation. She tugged at Jane's blouse, hinting her to calm down.
Then, Christine replied with a smile, "Of course, I am not disgruntled. Actually, it's good to have someone sharing my duties. I feel relaxed."
Mona let out a smile as well. "That's very open-minded of you. No worries. While making the decision on the brand ambassador, I will invite you to be there. You know Rainbow well, no matter how."
Why did Mona even want Christine to be there? Obviously, she just wanted to see the latter feel distressed. Christine revealed a faint smile and said nothing more.
The brand ambassador would be decided this afternoon. Rainbow Design was a clothing brand with only a history of three years. It was launched by Christine when she joined the company at the age of twenty-two together with several colleagues under their boss's authorization.
The brand had passed its infancy stage. Earlier this year, Christine had submitted a plan to vigorously develop Rainbow and obtained the senior management's approval.
Hiring a brand ambassador was one of the plans. The company had started to look for the best candidate from May, and it was supposed to be settled down in October. However, Mona had advanced it to September.
Mona was a sophisticated woman. Just as Christine entered her office, Mona brought her the list of candidates. "Director Smith, here are the names of the last ten candidates. It's not hard to choose one from them, I think."
Before Christine could make a reply, the other woman continued, "Oh, right. I've shown Mr. Law the list. He is fine with it."
Christine lowered her head to look at the list and then gasped in shock. Among the ten candidates, four were models, three were singers, and the other three were actresses. However, judging from the attached photos, their images did not match Rainbow at all.
"It seems that you're not satisfied with them? Well, you can go and discuss it with Mr. Law. He has checked on the list. Besides, two persons are not listed here. You'll see them this afternoon, and one of them will probably be selected."
With that, Mona walked out of the room with a sexy step.
As Mona left, Jane entered the office, grumbling, "Clearly, Mona is using Mr. Law to pressure us. None of the candidates fit our brand image. Look at this car model. She looks so unfashionable!"
Christine placed the list of candidates upside down on the table, saying, "Let's see how it is going."
At this moment, her cell phone rang. It was from Lora. Christine picked her phone with a frown.
Lora's voice sounded from the other end of the line, "Morning, Christine. I heard you've gone to work this morning. You know what? I will participate in the brand ambassador selection of Rainbow Design this afternoon. It means that I am going to cooperate with you in the future. Let's get along well with each other, shall we?"
