Chapter 12 Mr. Morris is Returning the Favor
Two years ago, due to the accidents that had happened to her family, Carole had to drop out of college.
But her enthusiasm for fashion design, her major at university, had always been there in her heart.
So, of course, she would be more than happy to be back on campus again.
Just...
Carole gritted her teeth and lowered her head sadly.
"I understand!"
Oscar nodded and pulled out another contract, placing it in front of Carole. "There are two options before you. Make a choice on your own."
There were only a few lines on the second contract.
It was a concise one.
Oscar was actually willing to fund Carole to finish her interrupted schooling!
Carole was stunned for a good while. "This contract..."
Oscar revealed a faint smile and said, "Don't doubt its authenticity! With a nod, you'll be back on campus tomorrow!"
"But why do you want to help me?" Carole touched her earlobe again.
"Check on the last term!"
"I've read it!" Carole swallowed and glanced again at the last row of words on the contract.
Oscar had made it a condition for Carole to work for his company for five years after she graduated.
In fact, that was not a price at all.
It could be seen as help as well.
Anyway, it had never been easy for a college graduate to get a job in a big company.
After thinking for a short while, Carole said, "Your company must be a big one. Even if I manage to graduate from college, I'm just a newbie with no work experience, and I don't see that as a reason for you to be willing to sponsor me!"
"Well, You're smart." Oscar raised his brows and looked deeply at Carole.
With his arms crossed, he let out a smile at the woman. "Didn't my servant tell you that I want to enter into a romantic relationship with you?"
At the words, Carole's expression changed dramatically.
She subconsciously took a few steps back, then said righteously, "I remember that I've told you that I am married!"
"So, are you turning me down because of your husband?"
"Yes!" Carole gritted her teeth and looked straight at Oscar.
"Do you love him?"
Love?
Carole let out a bitter smile inwardly. She did not even know who her husband was yet.
But at this moment, her mysterious husband could be used as a shield for her.
Carole blinked and smiled suddenly. "Marriage is based on fidelity between husband and wife. I have to love my husband before I can break off my engagement with him!"
"Um?" At the answer, Oscar immediately narrowed his eyes.
Simultaneously, traces of warmth he had never experienced before flashed across the bottom of his heart.
The woman in front of him was actually defending him.
Though he knew that the woman's words might just be an excuse, he was unexpectedly touched.
Oscar nodded slightly, leaned back in the chair, and said in a kind of lazy voice, "You've passed the interview. From now on, you're part of my company!"
Carole's eyes widened open in surprise.
Just as she was about to say something, someone knocked on the study door.
The butler, Mr. Allen, entered, smiled respectfully, and said to Carole, "Miss Watson, Mr. Morris was joking with you. Actually, the reason he's helping you is to repay the favor."
"Repay the favor?" Carole felt even more confused.
"Yes! Many years ago, your mother saved Mr. Morris, and all these years, he has been searching for her. But when he finally found the whereabouts of your mother, she was bedridden. Alas!"
Mr. Allen's tone was sincere, and there were actually tears glistening in the corners of his eyes.
"Mr. Morris is really sorry to know that your family has suffered a drastic change. He wants to help you but is worried that his sudden appearance will frighten you. That's why he set up a blind date with you, thereby allowing you to get to know and understand him!" Mr. Allen said, sneaking a glance at Oscar.
Mr. Allen felt ashamed of the lies he had told.
But Oscar ordered him to do so, did he dare to disobey?
Mr. Allen wondered if his performance would satisfy Mr. Morris.
Oscar looked solemn, with apparent sadness in his expression and eyes.
Mr. Allen sighed inwardly and thought, "Well, Mr. Morris's acting is better than mine!"
Oscar's superb performance should be able to convince Miss Watson, right?
