Chapter 11 Mr. Morris's Unpredictable Mind

Carole's face was burning hot in pain.

Due to Selma's slap, Carole's cheek was about to bleed, and the palm print on it would probably not disappear until tomorrow.

The driver looked at Carole's bruised face through the rearview mirror and could not help but ask, "Miss Watson, do you need me to take you to the hospital?"

"No, there is no need, but thank you very much!" Carole declined the man's kindness.

She dared not forget her appointment with Oscar and treasured the chance to obtain a new job.

The car pulled up at its destination.

The driver opened the car door for Carole with a friendly smile and said, "Mr. Morris is in the study, you can go straight to him!"

"Thanks!" Carole nodded, covered her cheek, which had got beaten, with one hand, and walked into the house.

The door to the study was half open.

Carole knocked gently on the door and asked, "Mr. Morris, may I come in?"

Hearing the woman's clear, pleasant voice, Oscar lifted his brows.

A vague smile crossed the edge of his lips.

He then glanced at the cat lying on one side and whispered, "Little Four, go meet your mistress."

The cat, Little Four, hurried to get up and ran towards the door.

It nimbly leaped into Carole's arms.

Carole was shocked.

When she saw the cat's blue, sparkling big eyes, she could not help smiling. "You look so cute!"

Little Four meowed in response to Carole.

It rubbed its little head in her arms, then remained still.

Carole made Little Four feel trusting and secure.

The cat's performance made Carole happy, and she could not help but beam with joy.

What a delightful cat!

At that moment, a cold voice came from the room, "Little Four!"

Hearing his master calling its name, Little Four hurriedly jumped to the ground and ran back to the study.

He was confused. It was the master who had just told it to please the woman. Why did he suddenly change his mind?

It's hard to fathom Mr. Morris's mind!

"Are you blaming me?" Oscar rolled his eyes at Little Four.

Somehow, seeing Little Four enjoy Carole's hug, Oscar felt a little jealous.

Little Four nursed a grievance in its heart.

It turned its back on Oscar.

Carole could not help but laugh as she watched the scene in the study from outside the door.

"Um?" Hearing her laughter, Oscar turned his cold gaze on the woman.

A trace of confusion flashed across Oscar's eyes. "What's so funny?"

Carole hastily dropped her eyes and replied respectfully and politely, "No, nothing!"

She did not dare forget that he was the last straw for her. How dare she mock her boss?

But that cat was so adorable!

Carole could not help but stare at Little Four.

Then she let out a smile.

"Hmm?" Staring at Carole, Oscar suddenly snorted softly.

Then, in an indifferent voice, he said, "Come in!"

"Yes, Mr. Morris!"

Carole scrambled into the study.

She kept her head down, and the hair on the side of her cheek was just enough to hide the palm print on it.

She touched her earlobe habitually and said gratefully, "Thank you for giving me a job. I'll do my best!"

"You should try your best!" Oscar nodded meaningfully.

He tapped his fingers on the desk and then handed Carole a contract. "Read it. If you're fine with it, sign your name on the blank."

"Okay!" In Carole's eyes, Oscar was her savior.

She read the contract carefully, then picked up the pen.

The moment she was about to sign her name, Oscar abruptly grabbed the pen. "Have you ever thought about continuing your studies?"

Carole looked at the man in a daze, feeling puzzled.
