Chapter 22 Could You Please Move? The Place that You Were Standing Was for Mrs. Brook.

Christine saw Franklin stretch out a hand. There was a wedding ring on his slender finger, which glittered in the sunshine. With sweetness in her eyes, she placed her left hand in the man's broad palm.

There was also a wedding ring on this white and soft hand.

Under the flashes of the media, they interlocked their fingers.

They were so sweet that they blinded the eyes of all the paparazzi.

Franklin didn't let Christine land on the ground. He carried her in his arms and walked towards the entrance of Brook's building in the shouts of amazement. He didn't put down Christine until he stood on the steps which were specially prepared for the press conference.

Mason came in a dark blue suit. He was surprised to see Christine behind Franklin and said in a low voice, "Frank, why did you bring her here? We're holding the press conference only for the project today. Do you intend to increase the click amount? "

Franklin frowned and interrupted his words. "What's wrong?"

"You need to sign a document in time. The other side has asked some questions. They are holding an international telephone conference. They want to talk with you about the development," Mason said.

"Mm." The man responded from his throat. He turned his head, bent over, and whispered to Christine. "I'm going to have a meeting. I'll be back soon. Wait for me, mm?"

His magnetic voice sounded as deep as a cello, which made Christine feel very numb and weak.

She couldn't help but nod her head.

Gloria watched this scene. She ground her back teeth fiercely.

The press conference was postponed for five minutes. Christine turned around and saw Gloria standing at the place where she should have been. She said with a naïve smile, "Sis, could you please move? The place that you're standing in is for Mrs. Brook."

The media was in an uproar.

The employees who gathered upstairs to watch this show sneered their contempt for Gloria. In the morning, they saw the media wait here. As soon as Gloria arrived, she acted as Mrs. Brook and boasted in front of the media.

All her talk was about Christine. She accused her of being ignorant and incompetent, of having the scandal with Martin, of having many bad records!

They didn't see Christine have any allergies this time. Her modelling wasn't messy. Actually, she looked like a fairy. She was a perfect match for their domineering and handsome president!

Hearing this sarcastic sentence, Gloria felt embarrassed and stepped back a pace. "Christine, I'm here only because I'm worried about you. When the media came, I just talked to them for seconds."

"Sis, you came here to wait for me, but how did you know I would come to the office today?" Christine replied with a casual air.

Gloria's exquisite makeup collapsed instantly. Her face was chapped a little. She forced herself to have some tears at the corners of her eyes. Her pitiful appearance tugged at other's heartstrings. "Christine, I'm just very worried about you. I know you're in a bad mood, so I come to talk with my brother-in-law about your marriage. I don't want people to get it wrong. Don't let anyone ruin our sisterhood."

Christine sneered. Gloria felt wronged even before she did.

She led a life of a whore and expected a monument to her chastity, how could this happen?

The media pricked their gossipy ears.

In the City H, the Stocks' daughter was engaged to the Brooks' son as a baby. Gloria was two years older than Christine. It should be Gloria's turn.

Were there any facts she wished to hide? Christine stole Gloria's husband?

There was a female reporter with sharp eyes. She took the opportunity to hand over the microphone as if she stood up for the weak.

"Christine, you stole your own sister's fiancé. You're really... a woman of loose morals!"

"Lady Christine, you're just a bastard daughter who tries hard to please Mr. Brook after being dumped by Mr. Jones. You wanted to kill Mr. Brook before!"

"Shame on you! You don't deserve to be Mrs. Brook!"

There were whispers in the crowd as well.

"That ugly woman at the wedding was Christine, what a shame! Her actions disgraced the centennial Brooks!"

Gloria sobbed. Her eyelashes could hide her smug look just right. It seemed that she explained the facts for Christine, but in reality, she was eager to mislead the media. "Please stop saying that. I don't blame my sister. She has always been the most important person to me. She did those things only because she suffered too much as a child. She is uneducated and is a little bit impulsive."

"Miss Stock, you are so soft that you have been deceived by this ingrate!"

"Please believe that she can't fool the general public. Everyone knows that you should be Mrs. Brook!"

"Please stop saying that. My sister is Mrs. Brook now. I'm just... "

"Poop, poop–"

Two crisp slaps interrupted everyone's discussion.

Gloria looked up to see that Christine wasn't irritated by the female reporter. Instead of rushing at her, Christine was smiling carelessly and clapping her hands calmly.

That gaze fell on her and all those who smeared her under their assumptions. It made them all shiver at the same time.

The next second...

She took Gloria's hand. She said in such an appropriate voice that everyone could hear her. "Sis, I know it's my fault. Ever since my mother Ashley died, Tami brought you to the Stocks. Dad didn't bring you back earlier, which made you lead a wandering life for a few years."

Ah–

"Unexpectedly, Christine's mother is Ashley Hill? "

"Ashley is the real Mrs. Stock who legally married to Mr. Stock. So, the real daughter of the Stocks is Christine!"

"It turns out that Gloria is the bastard daughter of the Stock Family. She is two years older than Christine. So, Mr. Stock had an affair?"

"Oh... Christine should have been Mrs. Brook. It was Gloria that intended to steal this marriage..."

Christine heard these whispers. Her heart became cold. She had never explained the facts during these years. Evan often brought Gloria with him. Thus, everyone thought that Gloria was the daughter of the Stocks.

Now she was going to take back what belonged to her little by little.

Christine saw Gloria's face gradually become colourless. She continued to say: "You always want to marry Franklin, but Franklin and I, we truly love each other. Ashley was my mother. I only had her."

"I know that Tami and you suffered a lot these years, but my mother was also..."

The rest sentence made people fall into a reverie. Ashley was a famous businesswoman in the City H. Then she gave up her career and returned to her family. After a few years, she suddenly passed away. People sighed over her story.

The media all loved to sympathize with the weak. The reporters who just blamed Christine changed sides immediately.

"Mrs. Brook, don't be sad. You are still dearly loved by Mr. Brook."

"It's very hard to be a child of the stepmother."

"That's enough. You guys shut up!" Gloria's voice suddenly became sharp. She roared out angrily. "Christine, you are not allowed to talk anymore!"

"Sis, you..."

"I'm saying that you are not allowed to talk anymore. Do you hear me?" Gloria was furious. She watched the media take pictures. She knew that her identity as the daughter of the Stocks had been snatched away just like that!

She knew that the media would expose her true origins tomorrow!

All these years, the outsiders thought that she was two years older than Christine. They always thought that she was Ashley's biological daughter. However, the image that she had painstakingly managed was completely ruined by Christine!

Ruined!

Actually, she was the daughter of Tami Brown, the bar girl!
