Chapter 2 Be Acquainted With Each Other

"My best friend was killed by him."

The man glanced perplexedly at Jack.

Jack continued, "He was Tom Brown. You should have seen him in the bar."

"Oh." The man nodded thoughtfully and said, "I seem to have some impression on him. Is he dead?"

"Yes, he was killed by Johnny." When it came to this matter, Jack felt indignant and his eyes flashed with hatred. He clenched his fist and said coldly, "Last week, Tom and Joyce went to the ballroom for fun and then had a quarrel with Johnny in the ballroom. Nothing happened at that time, but when Tom and Joyce left the ballroom, Johnny and a group of people kidnapped them to the unfinished building nearby. They pushed Tom down from the roof in front of Joyce, and Tom...Was killed, while Joyce is still lying in the hospital..." When it came to this, he couldn't say anymore because his eyes turned red and his voice was choked.

"So, you're here tonight for revenge." The man said quietly, as if he were asking a question.

"Yes." Jack gnashed his teeth and said, "Tom was obviously pushed down the stairs by Johnny and fell to death, but the police said it was Tom who fell down. Since the police want to shield the murderer, I will punish him myself."

The man shrugged his shoulders and said with a snigger, "Are you going to use your watermelon knife to kill him? Fortunately, you don't have enough experience to really stab him to death. Otherwise, your life will be ruined."

"Have you seen it?"

"Do you think I really happened to pass by there? Never believe in coincidence. There are not so many coincidences in this world." He said with a smile.

Jack blinked his eyes and he wanted to ask why he would appear here, but on second thought, he swallowed what he was going to say.

Jack said solemnly, "I am not yet 16 years old and I am a man of half capacity. Even if I kill someone, I will not be applied for the death penalty, and I will also be lightly sentenced according to law. I will be given more than ten years of my life in exchange for the life of Johnny, and it is worthy."

The man was stunned for a moment and then suddenly burst out laughing with his head high. He turned his head and gave him a deep look, laughing, "You seem to know a lot. It seems that you have made some preparations in advance. You are so smart, but what you do is stupid."

"Do you think I should not avenge my dead friend? Do you think the killer should go unpunished?"

"I think everyone has only one life. If you are not confident enough, you should not risk your life easily." The man shrugged his shoulders again, smiled gently, and said, "For example, what you did this time tonight is unnecessary and foolish."

In retrospect, Jack also felt fearful after the event. He overestimated himself and underestimated Johnny too much. He swallowed a mouthful of saliva and asked, "What should I do?"

"I have nothing to do with you, so I can't teach you anything." The man asked with mirth, "Where is your home? I'll take you home now."

Jack, of course, was unwilling for his answer. He was a person with little experience, but he could also see that this frequent visitor in his elder brother's bar was definitely not an ordinary person. Perhaps he had the ability to avenge for him.

At the thought of here, his mood instantly became excited. But when he looked up at the man, he was driving intently. After thinking for a moment, Jack didn't ask any more questions and gave his home address honestly.

In the following period of time, the man said nothing. Jack also said nothing, and the car was very quiet.

However, the embarrassment did not last long. There were not many cars in the streets at night, so the man drove very fast. In less than half an hour, he drove the car to the front gate of the residential area where Jack lived.

"Do you need me to send you in?" The man turned his head and looked at him with a smile.

Jack shook his head and said, "No, I'll just go back." At this point, he pushed open the door and walked out of the car. He was about to close the car door when he suddenly remembered something. He bent down his waist and said to the man in the car, "Thank you."

The man was still wearing a forced smile and nodded slightly.

Jack patted himself on the head with his hand and said, "By the way, I don't know your name yet."

"You'd better not know my name. You are less than sixteen and I am more than twenty years older than you, you can call me uncle, and you should not suffer from it."

Hearing what he said, Jack also felt very reasonable and immediately said, "Goodbye, uncle."

The man smiled twice, motioned his hand to him, and then drove away.

Looking at the direction of the car disappearing, Jack breathed out a sigh of relief.

For him, what happened tonight was too breathtaking and incredible. Fortunately, this time he was more scared than hurt.

When he returned to his home, it was nearly 2 a.m. Before entering the house, he wiped the blood on his face. After making sure that they had been cleaned without leaving any marks, he took out the key and opened the door.

The room looked dark without a trace of light. He felt secretly relieved. His elder brother seemed to have slept. Fortunately, his elder brother was asleep; otherwise, if his mess was seen, his elder brother would certainly nag for a long time.

He took off his shoes slowly and crept to his room. But when he just walked out of the porch, he heard the sound clicking. The light in the living room was suddenly lit up. At the same time, a low voice was sounded, "Why did you come back so late?"

Alas! Jack closed his eyes and grinned secretly. He sighed in his heart at the same time. His eldest brother was really patient and persistent, and he had not slept by this time.

He hung his head and said vaguely as he walked towards his room, "Elder brother, didn't I call you? Tonight is my classmate's birthday, so I'll be back later."

"Stop." Sitting on the sofa in the living room, Leon Smith stood up and came to Jack. When he saw the redness and swelling on his face, he frowned immediately.

Leon was ten years older than Jack. Although they were biological brothers, they were very different in character and appearance.

As the elder brother, Leon had a strong and tall figure of about 1.85 meters. His skin was healthy wheat color and he was also handsome in appearance. He had sharp corners on his face and deep facial features, which made people feel resolute and handsome at a glance.

As the younger brother, Jack was much more ordinary than his older brother. He was of medium to thin stature, and his facial features were not so handsome as delicate at best. He looked white and honest, and he was just like a good student.

If people who did not know the truth saw them, they would definitely not think that they would be biological brothers.

Leon came to Jack, bent down his waist, saw his lowered head, and asked in a heavy voice, "Did you fight with someone?"

"No."

"How can you deny?" Leon frowned more deeply, stretched out his hand to hold Jack's chin, and raised his head directly, looking at his red and swollen cheek and the clear fingerprints on his side face. He took a deep breath and was silent for a moment. He turned and walked to the kitchen and asked casually, "Who did you fight with?"

"I was playing crazy at my classmate's house and then accidentally bumped into something..."

"Finally, your face was hit by others’ hands?" Leon took out the medicine cabinet from the cupboard and walked back, placing it heavily on the tea table.

Knowing that his elder brother was really angry, Jack immediately lowered his head again and murmured in a low voice, "Elder brother, don't ask. I won't make the same mistake in the future."

"Come here." Leon opened the medicine cabinet and said without raising his head.

Jack was like a child who did something wrong, drooping his head and walking slowly and carefully to his elder brother's side.

Leon tugged at his arm in exasperation, pulled him directly to his side, and then took out a cotton swab from the medicine cabinet. He dipped in hydrogen peroxide and gently wiped Jack's cracked mouth.

When Hydrogen peroxide was smeared on the wound, it would produce small bubbles, which nearly caused Jack's tears to fall.

"Do you feel very painful?" Seeing this scene, Leon made his wiping softer subconsciously.

"Not bad, not very painful."

"This is certainly painful! All right, this time you should learn a lesson, and you will not continue to do such stupid things."

"Yes, elder brother."

"Our parents died early and I have only you as my younger brother. If you have an accident, I don't even know how to explain it to my parents."

"Brother..."

With this, Jack's eyes turned red, and his tears rolled in his eyes.

It seemed that their parents had passed away for more than eight years, and they have been living together for eight years.

When his parents had a car accident, Jack was less than eight years old and Leon was only eighteen. When such a big change happened in the family, the situation at that time was predictable.

At that time, Leon did not even have a second thought, and resolutely chose to drop out of school and set up a small bar with his parents' compensation.

Perhaps the predicament could really push out one's potential. Leon, who had not had time to go to college, showed his outstanding business mind.

Eight years had passed and the previously inconspicuous small bar had been developed by him into a large bar that had expanded several times in size and was well-known locally.

Now, although they couldn't be said to live the days of riches, at least they fell short of the best but was better than the worst.

Because the failure to go to college became an indelible regret in Leon's heart, but he still had hope. His hope was his younger brother, Jack. As long as he could guarantee that his younger brother would enter university and achieve success in the future, he would be satisfied.

Since his parents had died, and the eldest brother was equivalent to the father. In the past eight years, he had indeed played the role of a parent and raised his younger brother, which had become one of Leon's proudest things.

"If you want to fight with someone, you must have the confidence to win. If you can't win, you will be suffered in the end."

Leon said meaningfully, "Since you are in high school, you can no longer play and fight as casually as before. Your most important task now is to study. When you have to enter a key university in the future, you must not be like your elder brother. Even if you earn more money, people will say behind your back that you are an illiterate nouveau riche..."

With his elder brother nagging again, Jack's sadness in his heart was relieved and replaced by drowsiness.

He lowered his eyelids, nodding and answering, "Yes, yes, elder brother, I will listen to you. I will definitely not fight again in the future. The elder brother, you should stop nagging me like my mother."

"You must listen to me. I do this for your own good." Leon put away the medicine cabinet and grumbled discontentedly as he returned to the kitchen, "Why do you always say that I was like your mother, can't I be looked like your father?"

"..." Jack stood up, rubbed his nose with his hand, and said, "Elder brother, I'm going to bed."

"Wait a minute, the food is ready for you and you can go to sleep after you finish."

"No, I'm not hungry." With this, Jack walked to his room with his sleepy eyes.
