Chapter 4 Find a Backer
After coming out of the study, Laura Green returned to her bedroom. The opposite door was Paul William's bedroom. On the first day of coming here, Tia gave her a separate room, thinking about who it was.
Associating him with the conversation that she heard at the Green family today, perhaps Paul William really did not plan to have anything to do with her so that he could easily get rid of the Green family in the future and return her to it!
Laura Green felt her chest depressed for a while. She felt like a ball, kicked and kicked by someone.
When she thought about this, Laura Green could not help but clench her palm. She had to seize the straw in front of her!
The next day was Sunday. Laura Green got up early in the morning and went to the city hospital. She pushed open the door to a ward. She saw a gray—haired old lady crooking her body and reaching for a thermos bottle.
"Grandmother!" Laura Green quickly walked up, supported her, and gently scolded her, "Didn't you say that you want to drink water to let the caretaker pour you?"
As she said, she poured a glass of water and looked around, but she did not see the shadow of the carer.
"I gave her a day off!" The old lady knew that her granddaughter wanted to ask, then she explained, "Aimee's grandson is sick. He has a high fever, and she can't leave!"
"You'll worry about others, suffer yourself!" Laura Green was helpless and took her hand to the bed.
She was raised by her grandmother until she was picked up by the Green Family at the age of 15. Three years ago, her grandmother came to see her from Edinburgh. She lived for a few days, but did not want to go through a red light when she was shopping with her grandmother She bumped into them. To protect her, her grandmother pushed her away, but she was seriously injured.
In the past three years, she had done a lot of surgery, which had tortured the old man who was in good health. Laura Green caressed the back of her hand, her heart was full of self—blame!
As if she had seen through the girl's thoughts, the old lady comforted: "I sleep here every day. I eat and drink. There are people who serve. I don't suffer at all!"
Laura Green curled her lips and smiled at her. She turned around and took an orange to peel her skin. She handed it to her to see the satisfaction of the old man.
Because the carer was not there, Laura Green could not rest assured that she had been with the old man in the hospital for a day.
When she walked out of the hospital, it was already bright. Laura Green took a bus back to the school at the entrance.
When she returned to London University, it was already nine o'clock. Laura Green walked down to the dormitory and saw a tall black shadow standing under the camphor tree. He also held a basketball in his hand. It was James Brook.
"You're back!" James Brook walked out of the tree shadow. He was wearing ajersey and his arm with a wrist protector was thin and powerful.
"I said you're late at night. Don't go back to your dorm. You're standing downstairs in the girls' dorm!" Laura Greencouldn't help but tease him.
"What did you say!" James Brook bent his index finger on Laura Green's forehead.
Laura Green rubbed her forehead and laughed. Who made them their best friends?
"You went to the hospital to see your grandmother again?" The two of them walked side by side on the school's tree—lined road.
Previously, he and Laura Green and her grandmother were neighbors. Later, Laura Green was admitted to London. Hisfamily moved. Fortunately, he went into London University as well a few years later.
Laura read and nodded. "I stayed with her for a day!"
"Are you feeling better?"
"It's still that way. The doctor said that she's getting older and she's recovering slowly, but I want to send her to see it overseas. Maybe I have new hope!"
James Brook stopped and asked, "The Green Family is willing to pay this money?"
Laura Green shook her head. "I don't think they want to!"
The grandmother's current medical expenses were paid by the Green Family. The care worker's salary was her own money. Ruby Sharp had become increasingly mean to her in the past few years.
"I'm going to find a backer!" Laura Green said thoughtfully.
James Brook frowned and looked at her up and down several times: "Wouldn't you just want to pay attention to him?"
Under the street light, the girl smiled lightly, not affirming nor denying it.
