Chapter 6 Audition
Shawn caught the coin in his hand and watched the sight of her slender and stubborn back walked away until it disappeared.
Gazing at the one- dollar coin in his hand for a moment, he suddenly smiled.
A broad smile spread over his face, which was particularly dazzling.
Interesting.
He had thought her was a little white rabbit, but she turned out to be a little wildcat.
"Carl."
A young man in a white casual suit, who was handsome with a graceful aura, walked in with a professional standard smile.
"Young master?"
"Put this away."
Shawn flipped the coin in his hand. Watching Carl catch it with ease, Shawn lay back with his head pillowing on his arms and his two long legs crossing, exuding a leisurely aura.
"It's over two months before my mom's birthday. You wrap up this coin in a nice box and give it to my mom as a birthday gift."
Carl lifted his eyebrows. "Young master, what is this?"
"The service charge she paid me."
Carl glanced at the coin in his palm, nodding while keeping his countenance. "That is a lot of money."
Bella rushed out of the hotel and ran fast in the rain even if it was drizzling outside.
She ran faster and faster gradually as if she was venting her anger until she suddenly tripped over a rock underfoot. She fell on the ground hard with her face down. Her body ached all over.
After a long while, she got d up and wiped her face.
Her palm was damp with liquid. She was not sure if it was tears or raindrops.
The phone in her pocket suddenly vibrated.
She calmed down and answered the phone, "Dr. Walker, what is wrong?"
Hearing what Dr. Walker said on the other end of the line, Bella lost countenance, reaching out to stop a passing taxi while saying, "I'll be right over!"
She hung up the phone and got into the cab, "Go to Municipal Hospital. Please hurry up."
Half an hour later, Bella paid the cab fare and rushed into the Municipal Hospital, taking the elevator straight to the fifteenth floor.
When running into Dr. Walker at the door of one ward, she did not have time to catch her breath and asked directly, "Dr. Walker, you just said my grandpa fainted. How is he now? Is he awake? Is his condition severe again? Can I go inside and visit him?"
Dr. Walker was dumbfounded for a few seconds by a battery of questions of her.
"The patient is fine now."
"Really?"
A smile lit up her face. Her grandpa had some normal diseases of the elderly like hypertension, hyperlipidemia and so on. These diseases of his were not too serious, but his brain would occasionally get confused and he would often walk unconsciously to a strange place.
Last year, he went to the hills alone. It took Bella a day and a night to find him. She was so panicked at that time.
After talking to the doctor for a few minutes, Bella pushed open the door of her grandpa's ward.
"Grandpa."
Grandpa Jones, who was dressed in Tang suit, was reading a newspaper while being put on a drip.
His hair was white, but he was hale and hearty. Although he was old, people could tell that he must be handsome in his youth.
"Oh, Bella, you are here."
Seeing her, Grandpa narrowed his eyes with a smile.
Bella couldn't help smiling as well, sitting down beside him.
"Grandpa, let's live in River City in the future. This city has better medical resources. When you are fully recovered, we will go back to Maury County."
The doctor said that Grandpa's illness could get worse at any time as he got older, so she had no choice but to return to this city.
"Okay." Grandpa nodded, followed by a sigh, "Bella, I am an encumbrance to you. You would have lived a better life without me. You should go back to your parents, they......."
"Grandpa!" Bella interrupted his words, and she looked cold and frightening for a moment. "I don't have parents!"
"Ah!" Grandpa sighed deeply and said nothing more, and Bella didn't speak either.
She and her grandpa had been dependent on each other for years. Because of her grandpa's illness and her tuition fee, she had to spend her free time on part-time jobs.
For her, money was more practical than her dream.
Time was tight. She had to start job hunting tomorrow!
Bella studied at Northern Film Academy, but she did not have a dream of becoming an actress.
As an ordinary person and Taurus who loved money, the only thing he envied the film stars is their ability to make money quickly.
Thus she didn't hesitate to apply for Northern Film Academy back then. Later, because of that accident two years ago, she transferred to Maury County to continue to study acting.
She sat down on a bench in the hospital hallway, took out her cell phone and opened Wechat group composed of her college classmates.
"Dear, the film crew of Blind Heart is hiring a female character for the film. Here is the website link for you to send out your resumes. You're welcome to apply for!"
"Blind Heart? The film of Andy Chandler, that talented famous director? You are kidding! How come he needs to recruit an actress from outside?"
"It's only a small part, but they set the bar very high!"
"Really? Then I'll try it too."
"......."
Bella blinked, clicked on the link without hesitation, and sent her resume.
By the end of the afternoon, an administrator informed her that she had passed the preliminary and told her to go to the headquarters of Sky Entertainment Group tomorrow with her ID card for the second round of auditions. If she passed again, she would get a chance for the final audition.
Sure enough, there was a big barrier to entry.
Clicking her tongue, Bella noticed the three words "Sky Entertainment Group".
That was Shawn Evans' company.
Bella was a bit hesitant, but she thought that she wouldn't necessarily run into Shawn.
And if she passes the audition, she could get a million dollars for the acting job. Thinking of that, she made up her mind to have a try.
Early the next morning, Bella carried a backpack and took a taxi to Sky Entertainment Group.
As the country's premier entertainment group, its headquarters was a city landmark with dozens of floors.
Bella, who was standing at the gate, only felt herself like a tiny ant.
She looked up at the blue sky and walked in without hesitation, taking the elevator straight to the twelfth floor under the guidance of the company staff.
The elevator door opened with a 'ding'. Seeing familiar or unfamiliar faces by the entrance, Bella felt a little timid.
Wasn't it just a small role?
Who could tell her why there were so many people here? Among them were quite a few starlets who already received publicity in the show business.
"Miss Jones, why do not you come on in?"
"Oh, yes!"
Bella pinched her fingers, got out of the elevator, took the number plate, and sat quietly in a corner waiting.
Because it was the second round audition, the pass rate was very low. Within an hour, dozens of people have already been weeded out.
The hall, which had been a bit crowded, was empty soon. Seeing that a starlet who was already famous had been knocked out, Bella suddenly regretted coming to the audition.
