Chapter 3: Hospital Fright

Xenia Jones walked into the hospital. She first went to the cashier's desk and asked her grandma's hospitalization expenses.

"Thirty-five thousand! So much!"

The female cashier was very fat, ponytailed, and glanced at Xenia Jones.

"These are just upfront costs! The later recovery costs will be more!"

The female cashier knocked on the glass window, "When will the patient's arrears be paid?"

Xenia Jones held her empty wallet and kept silent for two seconds.

"After two days, they will all be paid."

After that, she turned around and went to the elevator.

There was a low sarcasm from the female cashier behind her, "Don't come here for treatment if you have no money!"

Xenia Jones stood still and looked back.

Her eyes were calm, without the slightest ripples, but let the female cashier's heart feel chilly.

"I wish you a healthy family who will never get sick!" Xenia Jones said slowly.

The female cashier was very angry, but did not dare to say anything more, and shaking the bills in her hand to continue working.

Tina Well lay weakly on the bed, but when Xenia Jones came in, she immediately became energetic.

She held Xenia Jones, asking if she wore long johns, and also put Xenia Jones's cold hands into her arms and warmed herself.

Xenia Jones fluttered into her grandmother's arms.

The grievances that she had been forbearing burst out in an instant.

But she didn't cry.

She tried to keep a bright smile and said, "Grandma, you must get better."

Tina Well took out a yellowish passbook from under the pillow. "This is my life-long saving to be the dowry for you. I am old but I still need the operation. Alas ... I don't know if it will be enough for the surgery."

Xenia Jones opened the passbook.

Since the year she was born, grandma had saved money in the passbook every year.

It ranged from a thousand or a few hundred, up to five or six thousand.

In the past 19 years, she had saved 70,000 or 80,000.

Xenia Jones knew that this came from grandma's frugality, the money saved by collecting medicinal herbs in the mountains.

"Wow! So much! It should be enough, and even a little bit more." Xenia Jones said happily.

"It's really enough?" Tina Well was a little unbelieving.

Aunt Hand pushed the door and walked in with the washed clothes, didn't tell the truth but helped Xenia Jones change the topic.

"Grandma Kent in the ward next door is mad again."

"Now, she keeps a group of little nurses again and said her grandson is engaged. The fiancée is beautiful. The family background is fine!"

This Grandma Kent was a celebrity on this floor of brain surgery.

She often pulled people and told them that she had a handsome and excellent grandson, and how capable, young and promising he was, as the perfect male lead in the novel.

When someone asked her his name and what did he do for a living, she couldn't tell.

"No matter how good he is, it is useless. She has been hospitalized for almost half a year and we have never seen a relative of her."

Xenia Jones stayed with her grandmother until eleven o'clock in the evening, and when her grandmother fell asleep, she got up and left.

Usually, at this time, the doctor on duty and the family members of the patients would still come and go in the corridor.

But it was a little strange today.

There was no one in the long corridor!

Even no nurses were on duty.

The extremely bright corridor was quiet and empty, making people feel scared.

Xenia Jones suddenly thought of Aunt Hand's frequent talking about supernatural matters happened in the hospital, and she said that grandmother lived at the end of the corridor, which was most likely to encounter some unclean things.

Xenia Jones's back felt cold, and she subconsciously speeded up her pace.

Just when she was waiting for the elevator.

In the hallway, the stomping of leather shoes on the marble floor sounded.

It sounded one after another, sounded calm, strong, and methodical.

Finally, the footsteps stopped beside her, a little behind.

Xenia Jones didn't know whether it was an illusion, but she felt there was a vulgar gaze staring at her.

Her heart tensed and she looked with the sidelight of her eyes...

The first thing came to her sight was a pair of dark and shiny leather shoes, followed by black trousers, wrapping two long straight legs...

The trousers were actually hand-stitched!

The stitches were particularly noticeable.

In today's society, there were even people who were hand-stitched clothes!

Xenia Jones suddenly thought that a group of people in the hospital did dress like this.

Just...

The group living in the morgue.

And their clothes were also black.

There was a chill coming from the soles of her feet and went straight to the top of her head.

Fortunately, the elevator door opened.

She stepped into the elevator first and pressed the door closing button quickly subconsciously.

Just before the elevator door was about to close, a pale hand reached out through the gap in the door and pulled it open.

"Ah......"

Xenia Jones screamed in exclamation, then slammed back, hitting her back against the elevator wall.

Her horrified gaze fixed on the face of the master of that pale hand.

The features were outstanding, with sharp edges and corners.

Wearing a precious pure black silk shirt, under the illumination of the incandescent light, the handsome face looked cold white like jade and was dazzling.

The man stared at Xenia Jones with directly, his dark eyes narrowed slightly, which were cold and evil. A cynical scorn showed on the corners of his lips.

"Green's little maid?"

His voice was cold and mellow, with a tint of laziness.

"You?"

Xenia Jones carefully looked at him for two seconds.

She felt chocked.

It's James Sterling!

Why did she meet him here?
