Chapter 2: Is This Real?

I am done with myself and it was 8:10. I am obviously 10 minutes late.

I went outside and went to the office of the human resource, the interviewer.

She already told me the floor and the room number so I quickly just followed it.

When I arrived on the 3rd floor and found her office, it was locked. Since it consisted of glass, I can see that there was no one inside the office.

I patted my forehead and exhaled deeply.

I am late. I didn’t make it. The interviewer left already.

I patted my forehead and said, "Stupid. Ugh!"

Then I saw a man who was going to pass by in front of me.

He was looking at his wrist and I am sure he was catching something.

But nevertheless, I still tried.

I cleared my throat and called him hesitantly, "Uhm, hey!"

He looked at me uninterested and raised his brows without response just, "Mmm?"

"I am sorry to bother you. I just want to ask if you know Ms. Carol, the interviewer. This is her office and she is not here."

He just shook his head and said, "I don't know." then left.

My eyes automatically rolled the moment he disappeared in front of me.

He was such a boastful, ungentlemanly guy who deserves nothing!

I am just pissed off with his attitude.

Mixing with the embarrassment I felt with myself.

After he passed by, I decided to leave the company and accept the fact that maybe this is not for me.

My interest subsided.

I walked back to the elevator then my phone rang.

It was Ms. Carol!

Seeing that name made me answer the call immediately!

"Ms. Carol! I-I am really really..."

She cut my words and said, "Sorry, Nikki, I have to go early."

The first thing that came to my mind was 'I am lucky' She didn't know that I was late.

"Oh! That's fine, Ms. Carol. No problem at all. Actually, I am about to leave the company now because you are not here."

"No, don't do that! I had an emergency that needed me to leave early. Sorry for not informing you but I already asked someone to do the interview for you," Ms. Carol said.

This gave me goosebumps.

"Someone? Who?" I asked, puzzled.

"I asked the CEO to interview you. Luckily, he was available today," she said calmly.

Hearing this pumped my heart exaggeratedly.

"I am willing to wait for you, Ms. Carol."

"I will be gone in a week or more. It is advisable for you to have the interview now or else someone will have the position," Ms. Carol insisted.

She was kind but I am really nervous to face the CEO of the company. There is a different level of nervousness.

She didn't let me decide.

"Go to the 5th floor room 502. That is the room of the CEO. He is waiting for you," she commanded and ended the call.

The cold sweat started to came out of my forehead.

"502, 502, 502."

I closed my eyes and inhaled too much air to calm myself.

I went to the elevator and waited for minutes but it wasn't moving so I decided to use the stairs to go up to the 5th floor. This makes me so haggard.

After reaching the floor, since I have no time left, and like Ms. Carol said that the CEO was already waiting, so I went to find room 502.

When I turned left, I immediately saw a huge office that was built with glass but wasn't able to see what's inside. I walked closer and saw written outside of it 'The office of the CEO'.

This is it.

I moved toward the door and held my chest.

Calm myself.

Oh, come on!!! I really can't believe that I am going to meet the CEO today with a hangover.

I put my hand on the door and then I heard a girl behind me said, "Go ahead."

When I turned my face to her, I was surprised to know that it was the one whom I bumped into on the first floor.

She smiled then left.

That gave me a lot of positivity.

I inhaled then released all of the air that I got then pushed the door.

I saw the man who was wearing a dark grey tuxedo sitting on his long black glass table holding a newspaper.

I couldn't see his face because it was covered with the sheet he was reading.

There's a white coffee mug in front of him that was still full. Maybe it was still new and the smoke was still visible, which caused it to look hot.

He was leaning on his comfy elegant chair and was not reacting when I entered the office.

Maybe he was just too busy to notice me.

But it really made me more nervous to approach him.

I stepped forward and that made me closer to his desk.

I stood up straight.

Brush my hair with my fingers.

And fixed my clothes by pulling it down.

"Mmm... Sir?" I said, wearing a beautiful smile on my face.

He slowly closed the newspaper and put it down.

"You?!" my eyes expanded exaggeratingly together with my eyebrows that became connected.

"Oh..." his response was so calm then smirked.

He straightened up his back and pulled his body toward his table and took his coffee and took a sip on it.

I can't believe this is happening!

I am currently experiencing the most awkward moment of my damn life.

F*ck!

I should go home and leave this place.

I cleared my throat and turned around and stepped my feet toward the door and was about to open it but I heard him say...

"Hey, hey." he laughed slowly and little.

"Wait. Calm down. Don't leave."

My hand is shaking. I can really feel the embarrassment.

But because he was the CEO of the company, I must act properly and professionally.

I turned my face to him again and said, "Yes, sir?
