18 COMFORT
RAQUEL
Raquel, though did not like the fact that she was kidnapped, but then she felt comfortable with her new environment. The peace and quietness, and also how those in the castle lived happily.
She sat up on her bed. She still wondered who this highness was, though. Its been over a month now, and still no sign of who this King is, Highness as he's been called.
Raquel felt like she had forgotten who she really was now because she no longer go for trainings, no adventure and obviously no one to talk to, except the big wolf in the castle.
Everyone else in the castle seemed very strange and mysterious. Though, when she searched for clues in the castle, she could not find anything that could lead her into discovering whatever secret they were having.
The human guy rarely comes around, and she suspects he goes out of town because there was no way he would be leaving the castle without a destination.
Just when she was thinking about her life in the castle, the big wolf suddenly showed up.
“There you are, I thought you have finally abandoned me too.” She stared at the big wolf who slowly walked towards her. She stretched forth her hands towards it, touching its warm, soft fur.
How warm and comfortable was it that sometimes she mistakes it for a dog. Right from when she was little, she had always wanted a dog, but she didn't have the opportunity to have a dog by her side. This was because she spent her time going to school and wanting to be a soldier.
Back at camp, they weren't allowed to keep dogs, just the Generals and the sergeants. Seeing the big Wolfie, made her feel like she has a companion to follow her just anywhere she went.
The strange part of it all was the fact that she feels some strange tingling sensation whenever she touches the wolf. She really could not explain what that means, but she feels very safe whenever she felt that way.
This happened only when she touched him, which was even more strange, but that didn't stop her from touching the wolf because she had somehow gotten used to the feeling.
She stared into the big Wolfie's big golden brown eyes, and she swore that those eyes gave so much sadness in them that she could barely point out. Maybe because she haven't taken her time to observe animals, in other to know how they are feeling, but she could swear that this one in front of her looked so down that she wished she could really help it.
Most times he never leaves her room, and even when he does, he's always alone, like someone who had been abandoned. This was the reason she felt sad for the big wolf.
She's sure the big wolf has a story too. It may be it's just an ordinary wolf who keeps the werewolves safe. What made her so convinced that the wolf wasn't a bad wolf is the fact that, during those times it caught her, it never once hurt her.
Not even when she annoyed it by trying to escape from him.
She caressed it so lovingly as though that will make it feel better.
“You poor thing, I wonder if you have a family too.” She caressed it's head and it suddenly sat on the floor, making himself comfortable.
She felt he likes it whenever her hands touches it. That will be weird won't it? What she felt was something quite out of the ordinary, so it's impossible for a wolf to feel that way too.
He's an animal who does not have a human feeling, but she's sure whatever he feels must be the same feeling the dogs have for their owners.
Thinking about a family, she misses hers so much, and she wondered how they were faring.
Raquel felt so sad, knowing she might not be seeing her parents anytime soon, or might never even get to see them anymore.
Despite the fact that she knows the maze was unreachable, she still believes her people in the army could have searched for her, though.
They have jets that could be used, and she believed they would be able to find her, if only they used it.
She sometimes looks at the sky, hoping to hear the sound of an helicopter, but none of that ever came by during her one month of being in the strange castle.
Maybe they thought she's dead. That could be the only legal explanation as to why there's no sign of them coming for her rescue.
A little knock on the door snapped her out of her thought. She instantly gazed at the door to find Audrey at the door. Since it was already open.
“May I come in?” Audrey asked in a low tine. Raquel smiled at the young lady who was probably her age. She's quite tall, auburn green eyes, long brown hair and quite tall.
“Come on in.” Audrey came in with a beautiful smile on, carrying a basket containing some fruits.
Another reason Raquel could stay in the castle was Audrey. She is very nice and easy to talk to.
Since she had no friends, having a conversation with Audrey made her feel relaxed.
But the reason she said everyone was mysterious was because whenever she asked Audrey about the origin of the castle, she only tells her that she's in no position to talk about those with her, unless the Highness permits. She wonders who this highness was that they are always talking about.
Audrey dropped the basket of fruits at the place where it was always kept.
When she turned around to go, she suddenly got startled at big Wolfie, which was strange.
Raquel watched how Audrey slightly bowed her head and quickly made out of the room, just as quickly. This surprised her because she had never seen Audrey looking so perplexed upon seeing Big Wolfie.
Wait a second, she had never actually seen the wolf and Audrey together before. Not even in the same room. In fact, nobody stays in the room when big Wolfie is around, and she wondered why it was that way.
