Fantasy Romance>The Shadow of Forever>CHAPTER 1
CHAPTER 1
Ann wakes up with a massive headache wondering what happened last night. She sees that she is in her own bed, but she cannot remember how she got to it. She looks around for her phone to check the time, 7:33. She stretch and a ray of aurora light flickering through the curtains catch her eye. She tries to think about what happened last night.
“Ann, you going to be late for school! I am leaving in 20 minutes,” her mother calls out from downstairs.
‘School? What day is it?’ she asks herself. She drags herself out of bed and looks at her messy self in the mirror. She checks the calendar on her phone and sees that it is Monday. She is very confused as the last memory she has is Friday afternoon. She had a sleepover at her best friend’s house, and she remembered that they sneaked out to go to an underground club.
She drank some medication for her headache and put on her school clothing. She goes to the bathroom and as she changes her panties, she notices some marks on her inner thigh. ‘What happened at the sleepover and why can’t I remember anything?’ she asked herself. She puts a plaster on what looks like bite marks. She brushes her teeth and ties her dark brown hair up.
She ran downstairs hearing her mom hooting outside already. She grabs her backpack and an apple.
The midnight sun is hanging on the horizon of Barrow Alaska.
“Morning mom,” she greets as she gets into the car.
“You cannot keep on doing this to me, I cannot afford to lose this job by getting late,” her mom says angrily.
Ann ignores her mother’s scolding and applies lip gloss on her lips.
They got to school, “love you,” Ann says plugging a kiss on her mother's cheek.
“Love you two,” her mother says back.
Ann started to make her way to class. She sees her best friend Jessica leaning against her locker. People nicked named them ‘twinsies’ because they looked so similar. The biggest difference between them is that Jessica had dark brown eyes, almost black and it reached her hips.
“Hello stranger,” Jessica embraces Ann. “Tell me everything! Did you hook up with that hot guy from the club!” she asked curiously.
“What guy?! I don’t remember anything,” Ann says worriedly.
“That guy!” Jessica exclaims shocked to see the guy from the club. He looks up at them, his mysterious yellow-grey eyes catching Ann’s. A smile creeps up his face and he gives her a wink. Ann blushes and looks away.
Wynn and Shysie looked like they could be siblings. Wynn, like Shysie, had bright blue eyes and blond hair. Both tall and heavenly appearances. Parris had a hint of bright blue but mostly his eyes are silver and brown. Jessica found it strange that the three of them and the teacher's eyes all had a blueish shine to them. Wynn and Shysie took chairs at the back of the class and Parris went standing at a desk behind Jessica. “I would like this seat please,” he openly compels the student to get up.
“Sure, no problem,” a guy named William stood up and found another seat. Only when William was seated, he snapped out of it and were confused as to how he got to the new seat.
Ann’s flashbacks are now coming back full force. Now that she remembers everything she looked around at Parris. Parris gave her a smile and a wink. Ann quickly faced forward again; cheeks flushed.
Jessica wastes no time and flashes Dario a sexy smile. Dario felt a bit uncomfortable. He picked up the Math textbook that is heavily marked with sticky notes. He opens it at the bookmark that Miss Wangberg placed and quickly looks over the page. “Let us get started with today's math lesson, please open your textbooks on page 107. Would anyone like to explain to the class their understanding of example 98?” Dario asked not expecting a from the students. He is about to make his way to the whiteboard…
“Sure,” Jessica got up and walked over to the whiteboard and seductively taking the marker out of Dario’s hand, making sure her fingers touch his skin. Dario flinched at her touch and the marker fell. Jessica is a bit taken back by his reaction towards her but picked up the marker.
Dario took a seat in the leatherback office chair and waited for Jessica to start explaining her understanding of the sum. While Jessica explained, Dario’s warning eyes went from Parris to Shysie. Dario is not really worried about Wynn as he is silent, stay out of trouble most of the time, kind of guy. Wynn instantly liked Jessica but also saw the Spirit Wolf hanging over her shoulders. He could also catch a hint of wolf smell coming of her. Wynn thought that by himself that she must have a mental block or else she would have not flirted with Dario let alone be so close to him. Once Jessica was done Parris started a slow clapping of his hands.
“Enough Parris!” Dario said angrily, slapping his hand down hard on the table making some of the kids jump from shock. Under his palm, Dario feels the table crack a bit. Dario wiped out Jessica’s work and started the lesson.
The day dragged by for Parris as the teachers come and go with the ring of each bell. During the break, Parris was disappointed not to see Ann around. Ann was so distracted in class that she decided to stay behind and catch up on some work, revising what was taught. She hardly got done with one exercise when the bell rang again. She sighs and then quickly grabbed her bag and left the class. She slipped into the bathroom and wanted to wait for the class to fill up before she goes back in to take a new seat, far away from Parris. She heard what sound like heated passion in one of the cubicles. She quickly ducked into another cubical and sat on the toilet. The two students sounded like they were done with whatever they were busy with.
“You be a good boy William, not a word to anyone,” Shysie compels William while sealing up the bite marks with her saliva.
Ann is a bit confused about what she heard but kept silent, waiting for them to leave the bathroom.
Ann stepped out of the cubical to make her way to class and got a fright when she saw Shysie.
“You know it is bad manners to eavesdrop?” Shysie says, about to compel Ann to forget what she heard.
“Were that William?” Ann asks, stopping Shysie in her tracks.
“Yes, why?” Shysie asks confused. “Is he your boyfriend?” Shysie asks mockingly.
