Chapter 1, Sovereign Dynasty

Gaius was one of the top members of the Sovereign Dynasty Society. This club of men aimed solely on ensuring they helped each other climb the ladder of success in any industry they were involved in. The Dynasty involved men from all walks of life. There were politicians, top government officials ranging from senators, to ministers, even the Vice President of the country Bezniz were Gaius lived belonged in this frat. Gaius was a business man and an entrepreneur involved in space works. He had contracts, building solely space crafts for popular space stations, and the official space station the country owned; he had started out at what would be explained as the bottom, compared to the height he had attained now; building bombardier jets and Boeing crafts for local airlines; through the influence of the Sovereign Dynasty, he had ascended gradually until he became the man in charge of building all the space crafts the country’s space center used for their exploits into space, and also most of the private space centers. It was basically a club where the men did business among themselves because most of the leaders of each industry in the country belonged in the Sovereign Fraternity.

The harmless club was a popular one in the world. It had branches in different parts of the globe, with Bezniz as the pioneer branch and the headquarter. Bezniz as at the time was the center of the world power in the world. Every industry from entertainment, to hospitality, to commerce and the World bank had it's headquarter at Bezniz, this is too confirm how powerful Gaius was.

Growing up, he made up his mind never to get married; it was a waste of time he would usually say to anyone that asked why he was still a bachelor. He grew up seeing his parents never agreeing with each other. Their home never progressed as a result of this. His father had a decent job, but chose to spend most of his evenings gambling and pleasing his friends, and being a philanthropist to every one but his family. He would beat his wife to stupor anytime she asked for any financial help whatsoever; it seemed to Gaius like his dad was forced into the marriage, hence he decided that most marriages never worked, and most couples that seemed happy only pretended. He was now a bonafide success. Well into his thirties, he had everything a woman desired in a partner. On several occasions, he had dated women who had hopes of ending up being his wife, but as soon as he felt too attached to them to start to reason being with them in the long run, he would gradually grow cold and eventually cut off from them.

Pompous Gaius, as he was secretly called in his company basked in his own euphoria alone. He climbed up the ladder of success gradually, but on his own, without any help until he identified with the Sovereign Dynasty. Joining the Dynasty was not easy in the first place. For you to know about their existence, talk less of getting access and eventually convincing the body to enroll you in their society, was as difficult as making it in life. The prestige and influence the society had and bestowed on it's members could not be over emphasized. Gaius, having being a member for well over five years, was due for a nomination to be the Global vice president of the society. The deadline for the nomination was in six months, and an election would take place exactly three weeks after announcing the nominated members. Several executive members around the Globe were eligible for nomination under this category including Gaius, only if he met up to one criteria he was lacking in and so much hated to hear about, getting married.

The Sovereign Dynasty, being one to promote discipline and responsibility, made it a compulsory criteria that only married members of the society would hold the mantle of the President and Vice President. The President of the frat was usually static until the member holding it passed away, or fell ill and couldn't continue to lead, or fell short of the laws of the society; only the Vice President was changed every four years, in other for the President not to be bored of working with one person for so long. The position of the Vice President was a mantle every member of the dynasty desired to hold. Being a Vice President, if the President died, or became incapacitated, the present Vice President automatically became the President; that was the procedure for becoming the President of the society, only the Vice President could be promoted to being the President, and no other way else was possible.

As expected in every society and even in a country, nominations and elections for important positions usually followed with a heavy buzz around it, with people campaigning themselves, or campaigning for people whom they felt were the most qualified, and would have their interest at heart when making decisions. Gaius was heading towards his car after one of the numerous meetings of the Society when his closest friend, Fred walked up to him;

'Did you forget about me? or you know i'm going to ask you to gun at the Vice President's position so you're trying to make a run?' Fred asked;

'I'm not qualified to run for Vice President, you forgot that or what?' Gaius asked Fred, making a face that indicated he was irritated.

'How are you not qualified, what are you talking about?' Fred asked, pretending he didn't understand Gaius, hence luring him towards the bait he had set out for him;

'It's for married members, hello?' Gaius said, looking at Fred ridiculously; 'is that not like the most prominent criteria for the position? how can you forget that?' he asked Fred.

'Okay, get married then, you have a lot of women dying to be your wife, we have until six months for the nominations to be over, and you can get married in less than a month if you want to' Fred told Gaius. Gaius stared at Fred intensely, confused and irritated, he wondered what on earth Fred meant by making such an annoying suggestion.
