Chapter 4 Fight for Family Property

"It is not your call!" Talbot Yeates, Mary's second uncle took a drag of his cigarette and slowly puffed out a ring of smoke, "With your parents gone, I have every right to take over Yeates Group. You are callow and only 20 years old. What do you know? Do you want to see the Yeates Group going bankrupt?"

From the hands of the patriarch, Mary's parents took over Yeates Group which was on the verge of collapse back then. Thanks to the support from Mary's maternal grandfather and the efforts of her parents, Yeates Group survived and thrived. Now, every one of them was coveting.

According to merits, Mary's parents got most of the shares. After their sudden deaths, their shares would go to Mary as per their will.

Mary naturally became the major shareholder even superior to Talbot.

"How did Talbot know that Yeates Group would go bankrupt under my helm?" Mary tittered and looked up at Talbot with calm eyes. Not a single cell of her body was willing to concede, "Because my parents trust me, they found a lawyer and signed an agreement a long time ago. According to it, if anything bad happened to them and my brother, their shares would be automatically transferred to me. This is the will of the deceased, and you should honor it. When my parents just rest in peace, Talbot couldn't wait to fight with me for family property. Don't you think you are going too far?"

Although she was a pampered lady, she was just willful but not stupid.

Did they think she was a just spoiled lamb to the slaughter?

She didn't allow anyone to encroach on the legacy of her parents!

Besides, her brother was still lying in the hospital, and the medical expenses were substantial each day. If she couldn't arrogate the power, how would she and her brother survive the day?

Her brother was now her only soft spot.

"Don't make a fuss. We are also members of the Yeates Family. Your parents held power for many years, and we didn't comment. Now they are gone, and a callow girl like you want to prevail. Don't you think you go too far?" Lynn Attlee, wife of Mary's second uncle spoke up in a voice dripping with sarcasm, "Mary, we are your family. It is for the interest of the company that Talbot wants to take over. If such a large enterprise as Yeates Group is delivered to the hand of a college girl, wouldn't it corrupt? Besides, your major doesn't fit the needs."

This couple had always been coveting the power, but Mary's father guarded well against them. Now their wish came true, and Mary became a lonely girl without any patron. Certainly, they defied her.

"Talbot, Lynn, now I have the most shares and naturally take control. Besides, you and my cousin are also working with Yeates Group. What misfortune would happen?" Mary gave a faint smile, and her bluish eyes were penetrating. With scorn, she glanced at her second uncle, "Talbot, don't forget that you are also one of the shareholders. If Yeates Groups fails, you will lose your job."

Boiling with anger, Talbot looked at her. In his mind, this 20-year-old girl was callow and unsophisticated. It turned out he was wrong.

"Shut up, you little bastard. You don't have any say here!"

Suddenly, a figure rushed up and slapped Mary in the face.

With all her attention on that greedy couple, Mary was taken by surprise.

The heavy blow fell with a clear slap, and five distinct fingerprints were instantly left on Mary's face.
