CH 7- UNVEILING HER REFLEXES

“It’s no big deal. This neighbourhood is the best in the city so you can expect good from everyone in this residential association” she brushed off the compliment and that was her down to earth nature, to see no great in their gestures!!!

“I’ve never seen such a good girl” Hayley was very much impressed by Ava’s nature and delightfully smiled at her.

“Shall I help you guys?” Ava had already forgotten what all she had planned in her mind to stay away from Liam and she being herself got into extending a helping hand to them and Hayley accepted her help with any objection.

“If that makes you happy" Hayley looked at Ava who had a pleading face and let her help.

“Great. Where shall I start from?” Ava was more than pleased to help them and enthusiastically asked her what she had to do and Liam was very much impressed with her goodness.

“Why don’t you take these boxes with books upstairs? There’s a shelf there and you can arrange the books the way you want" Hayley gave her the simplest task of all and Ava got into action immediately and took a box upstairs while the mother and son had a talk.

“I’m really impressed of you choice son, but she has the wrong face" as soon as she saw Ava reach upstairs, Hayley turned to her son and told him.

“I know. But how is it possible?” Liam was also alerted of what Hayley meant and sighed.

“Doe she know about this?” Hayley questioned Liam who nodded a no.

“Not yet. He couldn’t pass through the portal like us. It won’t take any longer I guess" Liam gulped down his worry and Hayley knew this was not an ordinary situation the boys had to face.

“How did you confirm that its her?? Did the pearl shine?” Hayley again questioned Liam to have cent percent confirmation that the girl they found was the one they were looking for.

“Yes, it did. And that’s when I was shocked to see her face. Luckily, I was able to hide it from her and she doesn’t yet know the truth about us" Liam breathed relaxingly and Hayley kept her hands on his shoulder.

“Don’t be too much pleased with that. Once he comes, he’ll break havoc seeing her and before that, we have to find out how it happened” Hayley advised her son and he agreed to that.

Then she signed him to go upstairs and spend some time with Ava and he hurried up without a hesitation. She was busy with decking up the books according to her liking and what he saw was that she was keenly observing the books with eagle eyes like she knew what each one was for.

“Familiar with the books?” he leaned himself onto the door and smiled at her and she was startled because of which she dropped the books she was holding on to.

“Holy mosses. You scared me" she breathed heavily ad her heart raised its beat.

“Sorry that I startled you" he came rushing to her and helped her pick up the books and she also bend down to take it. As both had bended on the same time, their heads bumped on each other.

“Ouch" Ava whined and looked at Liam only to burst into a heap of laughter.

Liam was mesmerized seeing her laugh and stared at her beauty with a racing heart. By then, Ava had collected all the fallen books and her eyes fell on an ancient history book on werewolves that shocked her.

“What happened? You good?” upon seeing her face turn pale, he noticed it in an instinct and asked but she was speechless.

“Why do you have so much of books related to supernatural species?” she asked him in a dead tone and had turned numb.

Liam was appalled to see her changing expression when it came to the topic of supernatural and was curious to know if she remembered her past. Ava had already begun to sweat and Liam held her shoulders.

“Ava. My mom is a history teacher and a researcher. These are all her collections" Liam stammered to answer yet he managed to find the perfect lie for her and she believed it without a question.

“Right. I didn’t know that people still believed in the existence of these species” Ava gulped down her anxiety and came back to earth, giving her answer to him.

“Do you believe?” Liam took the chance her that and Ava was again stunned. Her eyes opened wide in nervousness and breathed heavily reminisced her own life and before letting him notice her anxiety, she hastily kept the books on the shelf and backed off from him.

“Those are all just fantasies. So, no. I’m much practical” she clapped her hands rubbing the dust off and stood up.

“Who knows. What if they are?" Liam put on a mysterious smile on his face and Ava felt strange. She knew his expressions meant something but she had given up her past life long ago and the truth was that she had forgotten most of her life except for the day that changed her life.

“Then let both the world exist peacefully and united" she accidentally blurted out her own words which she had promised her father 500 years ago and the moment she realised it; she froze.

The past was coming back to her in a gist of time like never before and she was unknowingly going with that flow. There was no particular reason she knew on why it happened but whatever it was, her mind and body froze with a different level of anxiety and worry. She couldn’t control the overwhelming emotions in her heart any longer and she excused herself from Liam’s house and ran downstairs.

“Ava” Liam was flabbergasted seeing her sudden reaction and ran behind her confused.

Ava hurried her way through the hall and then, Hayley bumped into her and lost her balance because of which she crashed onto the mountain of boxes decked in the hall. Ava was shocked seeing that and, in a reflex, she pulled Hayley’s hands, no letting her fall but as the force had hit the mountain of boxes, the box on the top was shook and when Ava helped Hayley gain back her balance, her eyes fell on the box which was about to fall over Hayley.

“Oh shit, move aside" Ava screamed at Hayley and her warrior instincts triggered inside her which led her body muscles to remember the defence tactics it could use and she used her legs as a weapon to protect Hayley from the boxes and kicked it aside as if it was a piece of cake for her.

“Ava, mom" Liam screamed from the stairs running down to them and Hayley was stunned to see Ava’s defence.

“Are you all, right?” instantly, Ava cared for Hayley and helped her have a seat on their dining table and Liam came to both of the them.

“Mom, you good? And you, are you okay?” Liam cared for both of them and Ava stood there silent besides Hayley and handed over to her a glass of water.

“Thank you, Ava,” after drinking the water, Hayley thanked Ava who was numb because of what happened and also for what she did. A bolt of fear swept through her with the thoughts of them questioning her about how she did it. Ava began to shiver in fear and started taking heavy breaths in nervousness.

“I must say, you have damn good reflexes" Hayley then smiled at Ava and commented on her skills and hearing that, Ava gulped down the fear that clogged her throat.

“Yeah" nervously, she nodded to Hayley with a smile and looked at Liam who was staring at her admiringly.

“I think its time for me to go home now" she scooted herself from the place, not wanting to indulge in more troubles and stormed out of the house to hers and went straight to her bathroom.

Sweat was dripping from her like melting ice and she opened her tap just to continuously splash water on her face to calm her soul down. Whatever happened in Liam’s house shouldn’t have happened and the worst was how it was affecting her. Her old self just reflexed, showing other her capabilities that she had buried inside herself to lead a normal human life.

Once her worry had calmed down, she looked at the mirror and breathed heavily. How she wished to harm this face of hers!! How much she wished to scrap out this face and die a painful death which both their souls deserved but whenever that thought came up, an evil side of erupted out making her remember that death was the tiniest pain she could give Ava’s soul and that was not she wanted. She was not yet satisfied of her revenge and if her old self came up at instances, she very well knew how to cover up for that as it was something she had been doing in the past 500 years.......
