Chapter 2 Fatal Encounter

Chloe wandered in the street of Haverhill aimlessly. Her eyes were misty. The tenacity and courage she just demonstrated were no more.

She couldn't go home like this. Her mother would be upset.

Esteban had a good family background and a fine job. They dated for six months, during which he had been very considerate. Consequently, her mother kept urging her to get married.

She understood her mother's wish for her to establish a happy family and not to go on her path.

Chloe wandered around till her feet ached. When she raised her head, a bar named Fatal Encounter on her right came into view.

The corner of her lips curved up. Rather than a fling, she just wanted a rest.

She went in, ordered a bottle of the cheapest wine, and sat down at the counter before calling her colleague and bestie.

"Ivory, come hang out with me." Chloe was suddenly eager to pour out her heart.

"Chloe, I'm watching a film with Corey. One and a half hours later, I'll go join you!" The other party quickly hung up the phone.

Chloe looked down at the glittering screen, pouted, and muttered. "Dicks before chicks at such a moment."

Fine, she would wait.

Chloe poured herself a glass of wine and tossed it off.

She had no idea what kind of wine it was. It was cheap, tasty, sweet, and sour.

Grievances and boredom drove her to drink one cup after another.

Unknowingly she was drunk, and a man approached her with ill intentions. He molested her, but she was too delirious to stop him.

Just then, a tall figure, who had been watching her, came up and pushed the molester away. The latter cursed and walked away.

The big man glanced at the woman in a drunken stupor and reached out to support her.

Mistaking him for Ivory, Chloe threw her arms around his waist with her eyes closed, nuzzled up against his chest like a kitten, and mumbled, "What took you so long? I've been waiting!"

The statuesque man looked down at her and slightly furrowed his brow.

Chloe's saliva stained his lapel.

"Is it really you?" His finger gently stroked a mole on her left cheek, and a flicker of infatuation flashed across his dark eyes...

In her sleep, she had a headache and felt pain in her lower body. Like a small boat in the sea, her body was shaking. When the wind and tide came over, she clung to a tree to prevent herself from falling into the vortex.

She was dizzy for a long time until the pungent smoke choked her up.

Cough... She coughed and opened her sleepy eyes, only to find herself in a strange environment.

"Awake?" The deep voice of a man suddenly reached her ears.

Chloe turned her head and spotted the speaker on the sofa!

Around 27 years old, he boasted sculpted features, thin lips, and a firm chin. Several buttons of his white shirt were left open. His collar was slightly open, revealing part of his robust pectoral muscles. The man looked masculine and vigorous.

His deep eyes glinted with lofty light, which added to his charisma.

Chloe panicked, lowered her head, noticed her naked body, and soon realized what had happened last night. Turned out the big tree she clung to was his neck!

She wanted to slap herself for the drunken mistake. Like others, she tried to drown her sorrows but sucked in drinking capacity. Now what! Something she had cherished for over 20 years was lost spectacularly!

Inadvertently, she saw the logo of Hilton on the bedsheet. Gosh, she was at the most upscale seven-star hotel in the city.

She blushed slightly. The only thing on her mind was to leave before the man got entangled with her.

In a hurry, she grabbed her clothes.

But a big hand gripped her wrist!

"What... do you want?" Chloe raised her eyes hastily and met his deep eyes.

"You were energetic last night, and we've done everything." He leaned over and touched the mole on her left cheek with his finger seemingly unintentionally. A flash of ardency crossed his eyes. Then he loosened his grip and croaked indifferently, "I want to make a deal with you!"

"Deal... what deal?" Chloe dodged and clutched the quilt under her armpits.

Out of occupational habit, she took a glance at his clothes. Each piece was a limited edition of the season, which betrayed his noble status.

Without any large deposit or high-limit credit card, she couldn't afford such items. She had no cars, houses, or factories, thus unable to sell him anything.

She jerked her head up, looked into his cold dark eyes, and thought to herself. Did he want to buy...
