New Beginning

“Seriously Serena it’s been over a month since you came over. Tell me, when was the last time you felt the sun rays on your face?” Chelsea asked as she pulled the covers from under Serena.

Serena shivered slightly at the loss of the covers before raising herself to look at her sister who was sporting a sullen look.

“A month? Already?” Serena asked Chelsea absent mindedly not wanting to have this conversation with her sister. She couldn’t believe that it was almost a month since she had ran away from her home, town and business with a broken heart. She still had not told her sister about the whole incident regarding the wedding but she had a feeling that somehow her sister already knew everything..

“Yes a month. A month of you cooping yourself up in this room without even letting the slightest ray of sunlight through. Answer me this Serena, when was the last time you had gone outside or even the downstairs living room?” Chelsea retorted

“Uhm-“

“Uhm is not an answer! Serena I have tried to be patient with you for the past month but enough is enough. Look I get that whatever happened in the past was terrible and you never deserved to go through any of that but you have got to start living your life again. I know it’s hard sweetheart but you need to snap out of it.” Chelsea said with emotion.

Serena looked at her sister from head to toe in silence before opening her mouth to respond to her “And what do you suggest I do?”

“Easy! Go out, meet new people, and explore the city. Do anything and everything to distract you from the pain in your heart. You’re in your twenties Serena, enjoy it for as long as you can.”

“You shouldn’t be in your room dwelling on depressing thoughts. You should be out there-“

“Okay” Serena said interrupting her sister’s endless sermon.

“-doing things that make you happy. I'm sorry what? What did you say?’ Chelsea asked unable to believe what she had heard.

“I said okay I’ll take your advice,”

Chelsea squealed before running over to give her sister a big hug. “You will? Really? Wait how do I know that you aren’t just saying this to get me to stop talking?” Chelsea asked.

Serena stared at her sister with a blank expression on her face, refusing to say anything.

“Oh I know! How about you go with me to my bosses sister’s wedding today?”

Serena paused to think about her sister’s proposal. She really didn’t want to go anywhere but she that knew her sister would continue to nag her incessantly if she decided to decline her offer so she swallowed the refusal that was on her lips.

“Sure, I will go with you. What time is the wedding?” Serena asked as she adjusted herself on the bed.

“Really? You’re the best!” Chelsea said before engulfing Serena in an airtight hug for the second time that morning.

Chelsea was surprised that Serena had agreed to go to her boss’ sister’s wedding with her as she had tried to convince her to go out several times but ended up failing miserably. Chelsea loved her sister and she felt bad having to always leave her all alone in doors while she went to work.

‘Maybe my talking had finally gotten through to her and she was truly taking my advice’ she thought before leaving her sister to get ready for the wedding.

Both sisters dressed up very elegantly and looked as pretty as a picture. Both sisters were very different and it was clear in even their fashion choices. Chelsea had chosen a short pink chiffon gown which clung to her body and enhanced her curves making her look like she had just walked out of a Victoria secret’s runway while Serena’s emerald green dress was more conservative in nature but it did not dampen her beauty in the least, rather it made her look more appealing. Serena was a stunner! From her well groomed hair to the point of her stiletto heels. She was truly beautiful with her dark long glossy hair and her slim figure that many models would kill to have. She didn’t need to make any effort to draw herself because she was the magnet.

Chelsea looked at her little sister as she descended down the stairs and felt tears well up in her eyes. Serena was indeed one of the most beautiful women she had ever had the pleasure of meeting. She thought of how Melvin chose Bebe over her sister and soon felt anger wash over her in waves.

She wondered how any one in their right mind would choose chaff over substance. It was laughable. Granted Bebe was a top model in the industry but her beauty could never truly be comparable to her sister’s not mention Serena’s compassion and love. Melvin had to be the biggest fool in the world to have let her sister go like that.

“All’s well that ends well. I always knew that rat would never be good enough for my sister” Chelsea muttered low under her breath
