Chapter 6 William's Birthday Party

"It's late, uncle, good night." Hailey put on a cold face and declared.

In Jack's view, she was upset because he wouldn't buy new clothes for her. With a smile, he stood up.

He had seen too many such girls' tricks. Deep down, he snickered. Sure enough, this girl was so naive that he could buy her favor. This kind of woman was easy to play with.

Jack was unscrupulous. In his view, Hailey's buyer was impotent, and he didn't want to waste such good resources.

"You must be tired from the long trip; sleep tight."

Jack leered at her and left.

Disgusted by the man, Hailey almost puked.

The next day...

It was William's 65th birthday. Early in the morning, people started to decorate the house. As the hostess, Amaya was up to her neck.

Because of her leg injury, Eliza had been hiding in her room.

A bore Hailey wandered around the villa.

When it was getting dark in the evening, the entire house was brightly lit.

Those close friends of the Andersons arrived early to congratulate William.

Hailey quietly sat on the small bed, waiting for William's summons. She was sure that if she went out in such cheap clothes, the old man would kill her with his eyes.

After all, William cared about his reputation very much. While his company was going bankrupt, he still held such a grand birthday party. His vanity was really strong.

While she was in a daze, the door opened. Standing outside, Eliza tossed over a dress, turned around, and hobbled away.

"William asked me to bring you the clothes. Take it, put it on, and come out."

Hailey took the dress and had a look. It was a low-cut black dress with high splits. Decorated with silver sequins, it looked gaudy and vulgar.

Seriously?

Hailey curled up her lips smartly to sneer...

The party kicked off at seven o'clock. All the connections of the family had been invited to the house to celebrate William's birthday.

Delighted by the grand banquet, William kept a gracious smile on his face.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending my birthday party. Except for my birthday, I'd like to share another piece of great news. You know, our family has been looking for my lost granddaughter. Recently we had her back." William announced in a loud voice.

Most of the guests were William's or Jack's peers, so they knew a thing or two about Melody.

As soon as his voice died away, someone asked, "Is she Melody's daughter?"

"Yes, that unfilial daughter. Alas, if she didn't do such a thing, I wouldn't have disowned her. Alas, forget it, no matter what mistakes our children make, we won't hold grudges." William said sadly.

"Exactly, William, you are right. I watched Melody grow up. She is a good kid. How could she do that? She was muddleheaded." An insider echoed immediately.

"Forget it, my unfilial daughter was ignorant and a disgrace to our family. She stewed in her own juice. It's just that my poor granddaughter lost her mother at a young age, and I couldn't bear to see her living with her inept father." William almost shed tears.

Everyone was touched, "William, luckily you had her back. Bring her out and meet us."

William wiped his dry eyes and turned to Amaya. The latter immediately asked the maid to fetch the girl.
