Chapter 25 The Phone Call

"Dear, aren't you worried about me?"

Zoey placed her arms around Charlie's neck from behind and said pitifully.

"Don't worry. You have paid for it. It is not stealing. So even though he knows you, he will forgive you. " Charlie repeated Zoey's words.

Zoey shook her head. "Professor Davis said that roses are his and his wife's children. Do you think he can forgive me for stealing their children?"

"Nope."

"Charlie, why am I so hapless? I just stole some flowers.

What does it matter?

I want to please you so that you agree to have children with me. Besides, I paid. Stealing flowers is such a trivial thing that even the police don't care. But, what matters is that the flowers I stole belong to Professor Davis.

The god does not bless me."

Her exaggerated expression and action amused charlie. He wished that he could spend all his birthdays with Zoey in the future.

"I am in trouble. How can you laugh at me?" Annoyed, Zoey gently hit him.

Charlie said, "Don't worry, I'll handle it. But don't steal anything, including flowers, again.

As a young girl, you should behave properly. "

She whispered in his ear, "I am old enough to have your babies. Why don't we try to have one tonight?"

Charlie replied, "I'm talking with you about something serious."

"Isn't it something serious to have a baby?"

She mumbled, looking at Charlie's dark eyes and sticking out her tongue. "Well, I know. I promise not to steal anything except your heart!"

Though Zoey often seduced Charlie, she would be timid if Charlie agreed to her request.

"So, how do you help me?"

All of a sudden, Charlie's phone rang. He frowned at the strange number and put the phone through.

"Hello, this is Charlie Kingsley."

"Charlie..."

Zoey, who held Charlie's neck, felt that his body froze immediately when he heard the voice. And then she heard Charlie replying,

"I thought you would never call me again." There was a hint of resentment in Charlie's cold voice.

Zoey found it was a woman's voice and asked, "Charlie, who is it?"

At her words, Charlie glanced at her and put the phone in another ear. And Zoey could not hear their conversation anymore.

Was he unwilling to let her hear their talk? Who was that woman? At the thought of that, Zoey felt gloomy.

Zoey went to stand before Charlie, sat on his lap, glared at him. Charlie said softly, "Honey, there's a coffee shop across the road. Go to have a cup of coffee, and I'll pick you up later."

"No!" Zoey replied firmly.

The woman on the other side of the line asked, "Charlie, who is she?"

Hearing the voice, Zoey cried out, "His wife! Who are you? Why do you cry and call my husband? I warn you that if you dare to seduce Charlie, I'll make you in trouble."

"His wife? Charlie, are you married? "

"Yes," Charlie said in a deep voice. He took a deep breath and was about to ask her why she left without a single word when the woman hung up. He vaguely heard a man's voice from that side.

He had a wife, and she had a man.

"Who is that woman?" Zoey asked.

"Caroline," Charlie answered.

Zoey continued to ask, "why did she call you?"

"I don't know." He stared at the screen with a depressed expression.
