Chapter 17 The Hospital (Part II)
At her words, Emily misunderstood again. She reached out to rub Camille's forehead with her thumb. "Girl, never think there is only one way out."
Camille closed her eyes.
It had been a long time since anyone cared about and soothed her like Emily.
Emily offered her the same warmth from the person she dreamed of last night.
Camille knew what Emily said was right, but the way out was limited for her.
She reopened her eyes, "Is he here?"
Emily shook her head with anger, "You... care about him? Why do you care about someone who drugged you?"
Camille could not help laughing, "Why does Dr. Baker think it is he who drugged? If that's the truth, why did he send me here? He is the one who saved me."
"So, you know who drugged you?"
Camille did not answer. Though she was clear about who it was, she was unable to prove it. Even if she called the police, Will could dismiss her statement as a false accusation by making up an alibi.
Misunderstanding that Camille was reluctant to fight back against those who harmed her, Emily felt upset.
Since her tenure at the hospital, Emily had witnessed many things beyond her expectation.
The Silk River Hospital was one of the top private hospitals in the country. On the ground of profitability, it was specifically designed to provide extreme emphasis on patient privacy. Therefore, countless patients were sent here by the powerful every year.
They were injured because of money, power, or love. And they were either compelled or willing to be treated in that way.
But all of them hushed up how they got injured. Some silly girls even interpreted it as love.
As the hospital staff had signed confidentiality agreements, they had to turn a blind eye, no matter how outrageous something was.
Still unwilling to see others ruin their own life, Emily strove to persuade them to recognize the reality.
At this moment, Cherry knocked on the door and entered.
At the sight of Camille, Cherry almost cried and rushed over.
Emily quietly left.
"Miss Davis, are you okay?" Cherry asked with concern.
"I'm fine, Dr. Baker just," Camille paused, "the doctor who just left said I'm fine."
"That's good... Were Mr. Wilson and Edward who saved you?"
"Yes," Camille nodded, "why did they show up at the construction site?"
"After you left for a while yesterday, Edward, Danny's assistant, sent me the sighed endorsement of 'Orchid.' I thought it was strange and asked him. He told me that they just mentioned the endorsement in the message they sent you but did not ask you to that site."
"That's the only reason?"
"No," Cherry shook her head, "That site was closed a month ago, and I couldn't get through to you. So Edward told Danny, who decided to find you. I wanted to go with them, but they insisted that I stay at home and inform them immediately in case you come back."
"I see."
No wonder Danny told her not to be rash.
Compared with her, Danny was indeed much more thoughtful.
"With Soaring Group's endorsement, the bank loan should be okay," Camille added.
"The loan..." Cherry hesitated with anxiety.
"Anything wrong?"
"I got a notice from the bank on the way over here that the loan is suspended."
