Chapter 9 The Encounter (Part I)

Cherry's candid camera was indeed seized.

But thankfully, she was not injured.

Out of caution, Camille also installed a pinhole camera in the frame of her glasses before going to Soaring Group.

But she was so angry with Danny that she forgot to take her glasses.

Camille was about to talk to Danny when he sent her a concise message: 8 pm today, X CLUB 783, glasses.

Camille knew about the X Club.

It was a private membership club founded by Thomas Marston, the Marston Family's eldest son, the top family in Silk City.

The club had everything you needed, and the customers were either rich or famous. The entire second and third generations of those prestigious families in Silk City were proud to be members of the X Club.

It was a place of entertainment for the upper class of Silk City and, more importantly, a social venue for them to enlarge their interpersonal network.

Camille was not a member of the X Club as she was not socially active.

At 8:00 p.m., Camille arrived at the X Club.

Several young rich men tried to enter by pretending to be members of the club but were blocked by the door's concierge.

Camille was worried about how to get in and observed what was going on. But when the concierge saw Camille from afar, he respectfully ran over to greet her.

Camille was led into the club under the envious gaze of those who had been stopped at the door. The concierge left after having a waitress lead her.

The waiter looked timid. Camille asked her questions about the club, finding that she just started working here and had bare knowledge about it. The waitress also told Camille her name and that her classmates also worked here.

Camille guessed that the X Club had a set of strict requirements about receiving guests.

As she walked along the hallway, Camille suddenly heard the sound of an argument before. She looked over and saw a familiar face.

It was Jade. On the floor sat a waitress with half of her face swollen. Next to her was a tipped bottle of whiskey, from which a steady stream of liquid flowed.

Jade was holding up her skirt and swearing at the waiter relentlessly.

Camille clenched her fists, held her breath, and was frozen.

After seeing the person's face on the floor, the waitress leading Camille shouted out a name.

Apparently, it was one of her classmates who also worked here.

As the waitress ran over, Jade noticed Camille behind her.

The club manager who heard the noise came and pulled the girl up, pleading, "Miss Davis, you are generous. Please forgive her this time."

Jade's attention had been diverted at the sight of Camille.

She pointed at Camille and asked the manager, "Do you know who she is?"

Though the manager was aware that all guests at X Club were from the upper class, he could not recognize Camille's identity. So he shook his head.

Since the Davis Family was strict, Camille had never been to the club. Therefore, it was not surprising that the manager did not know her.

It was the first time Camille had seen Jade since the cliff incident.

In the past half a year, Camille had intentionally avoided those involved in the incident.

At this moment, Camille's face was horribly pale. Fortunately, the warm yellow glow of the corridor hid her look.

Camille seemed to be absolutely indifferent to Jade with her arms crossed.

But she, in fact, was managing to stifle her uncontrollable trembling with anger and fear.

Jade continued to ask the people around her the same question. But none of them said yes, including many previous friends of Camille.

Jade laughed and stared at Camille with contempt, "See, no one recognizes you."

Will was also present. He came out of the crowd and insulted her, "You pretended to be so innocent and even did not allow me to touch your hands. I did not expect that now you have come down to this kind of place and are willing to do anything for money."
