Chapter 19 Ethan, Will You Kiss Me or Not
"Why? Ethan is now my brother-in-law. If I call him like that in public, those women will give up pestering the married man." Daphne reasoned.
"Daphne!" Jennifer called out seriously and continued, "Our marriage is a secret. We have no plans for a wedding or announce it to the public."
"W..." Daphne almost blurted out.
Jennifer should have her reasons!
Since they hadn't gone shopping together for a long time, they went on a spree.
At around six o'clock in the evening, Ethan came to pick Jennifer up, and the latter got into the quiet car.
Leaning against the window, she watched the fleeting view. Ethan held her in his arms and asked in a soft voice, "Tried from shopping?"
"Mm, a little bit!"
"Have a rest on my shoulder, we'll be home when you wake up."
Jennifer closed her eyes, smelt the familiar scent from his body, and went out like a light.
She had a dream, a sweet one.
It was a rainy night. Ethan and she were sitting in a car. The night view was as dark as ink. When she turned to the right, Ethan happened to turn to the left. The tips of their noses touched. The warm sensation made her tremble.
It was two minutes of silence, but neither of them was willing to move away.
They were so close. Ethan suppressed his desire but... she couldn't. Her heart pounding, she licked her lips and asked gently, "Ethan, will you... kiss me or not?"
Surprisingly, she was the one to break the silence.
Then she shily closed her eyes.
She waited for several seconds, but the man still didn't move. Dejected, she was ready to pull back when... a pair of robust hands wrapped around her waist, and her lips were kissed passionately.
It gladdened her heart.
Ethan also liked her, right? Otherwise, why did he kiss her?
That was her first kiss!
In TV dramas, the first kisses were pecks, but Ethan kissed her for a full five minutes. Over and over again, he did it so skillfully like a veteran.
She itched to ask him if this was also his first kiss but dared not.
If she asked, she would know the answer. Yes, it was also Ethan's first kiss.
Then...
She went to ask Wesley, "If a man kisses a woman, does it mean he likes her?"
Wesley flicked her forehead and laughed at her, "Kiss and sex are just lust. They have nothing to do with love."
"What if... the kiss is passionate? Does it mean a bit of love?" She pressed.
Wesley mocked her, "Naive!"
Until she saw Angie Simpson kissing Ethan, and he didn't refuse.
She then realized how naive she was! Ha-ha...
In her dream, she could hear the voice from four years ago. So clear and harsh, it broke her heart.
"Jennifer, I've never loved you. It's just a game!"
"Jennifer, I didn't expect you to be so shameless. You keep pestering me, which is disgusting."
It was Ethan's voice.
Nightmare shrouded her like dense threads and cut off the air. Like flood, pain, fear, trepidation was poised to devour her at any moment.
Cold and scared, she struggled and called Ethan for help, but where was he?
He left with another woman to a faraway place.
The past pain was irremediable. Now she was just an empty shell. Her heart had withered and died a long time ago.
When they met again, she warned herself, "Jennifer, guard your heart, do not fall in love... no love, no pain."
Ethan, I didn't dare to love you again. I was afraid of death that I narrowly escaped. I might not be able to come back to life again.
Warm tears fell off her eyes, tricking down her cheeks to her neck and then her collarbones.
She woke up with a start still in pain!
Jennifer opened her eyes and regained her composure. The car pulled off in front of a strange building. She had never been here before.
"What is this place?" She asked!
