Chapter 18 The First Woman He Has Held in Four Years

Ben held his breath and listened quietly.

"My dear, don't go, don't..."

The woman's affectionate call surprised Ben for a moment before he slowly raised his head to look over.

A drop of tear fell from the corner of the woman's eye.

Who was she calling? Was it her husband? Was she so sad because he left?

Ben was wondering when the woman began sobbing uncontrollably.

There were continuous sobs.

It sounded that she wanted to cry out but desperately tried to restrain herself from doing so.

Ben became more and more curious.

What kind of feelings and pain seized her like a nightmare?

He did not expect that this woman, who looked so tough, was so pitiful.

Ben spontaneously wanted to pacify her by patting her at the sight of her curling up and crying with quivers. As he touched her shoulder, she suddenly hugged him firmly.

"My dear, don't go, don't..."

Ben, "..."

How annoying this woman was! He was so kind to cover her with his coat and comfort her. But she hugged him and cried as she thought he was his husband. What did she think of him?

"Let go." An indifferent expression appeared on Ben's face, who tried to push away the woman in his arms, but her hug was tighter and her sobs louder.

Ben, "..."

Despite his cold and ruthless look, he could not resist feeling sympathetic for the older man, woman, or child.

Therefore, he could only let her hold him firmly.

He consoled himself that it was simply a reward for her previous companion when he lost his control.

Yes, it was true. He had always been a gentleman who would return favors others did for him.

The woman's incessant sobbing sounded miserable.

Ben never thought he would be so patient to guard a crying woman and allow her to hug him for a whole night.

The next day dawned.

The housekeeper and servants looked for Ben everywhere before they found him in the wine cellar.

"Sir, are you okay?"

They were shocked by the sight that Ben was asleep with Gabrielle in his arms.

Ben knew someone came when he heard the door was opened. At the butler's voice, he immediately opened his eyes and asked him to be quiet by flashing a harsh glance.

The butler glanced at Gabrielle with curiosity and kept his mouth shut, telling others to leave with him by the gesture.

Ben withdrew his gaze and looked at Gabrielle.

Why was she still asleep?

Hesitant to wake her up, he held her up tenderly and walked out.

The housekeeper hurriedly followed and wiped his forehead with excitement. In his memory, Gabrielle was the first woman Ben had hugged in four years.

The maids following the butler were also shocked that Ben, who seemed not to be interested in women, was hugging Gabrielle.

"Daddy!" As Rachel, who just came down from upstairs, saw her father holding a woman in his arms, an element of anger emerged on her face. She was about to say something when she saw the woman's face. Her eyes shone with surprise, "Mommy!"

Daddy and mommy were finally together!

Rachel ran over to greet them with a big hug.

But Ben ignored her, heading straight upstairs.

Rachel was disappointed and unhappy because of her father's attitude.

However, there was someone who was way more unhappy than her.
