Chapter 16 Deal with Him
"Get out of my way. Don't delay my collecting the marriage certificates!"
Upon hearing the arrogant voice, Mia turned her head and saw a young woman being pushed forward.
"Hurry to sign it!"
Mia glanced at Dylan and then at the woman who was pushed forward. She wondered what was going on. It seemed that the woman was forced to marry the man.
Although Mia and Dylan's marriage was not based on love, it was an equal deal. She did not expect to see a woman more pitiful than herself.
It was simply a robbery.
Mia took one step back while Dylan blocked the man.
"Joshua, what's going on? It has been just a few days. You're getting married?"
At Dylan's words, the anxious man turned his head and revealed a shocked expression upon seeing Dylan.
"What are you doing here? Don't tell me you're here to get a marriage license too."
Joshua Anderson was Dylan's childhood friend. They grew up together, went abroad together, and came back together. Those who did not know the situation often regard them as a gay couple.
But Joshua was clear that Dylan was straight and that the latter was just not interested in hooking up with women. Occasionally, he had sex with females but never allowed any of them to enter his life.
He was almost like a saint.
Why was Dylan in the Civil Affairs Bureau?
"Is he here to witness my getting married?" Joshua wondered.
Then, Joshua glanced at Mia. The woman's features were delicate. But among those who tried to conquer Dylan, she was somewhere at the mid-level.
"No way."
Joshua wanted to question Dylan how could he marry this kind of woman. However, for fear that his words would offend his friend's fiancée, he did not express his idea openly.
It was self-evident that Dylan was going to marry this woman.
"This is happening."
Dylan guessed what Joshua was thinking about.
Dylan's reply made Joshua widen his eyes in surprise. How could Dylan find a woman to marry after only several days since they returned from abroad.
Joshua looked at Dylan as if the latter were a demon. Then, he looked up and down at Mia, which scared the woman slightly. Intuitively, Mi moved closer to Dylan.
Mia's intuitive reaction made Dylan smile. Then, he gave Joshua a push, saying, "Enough, Joshua. Go to the back of the line. First come, first served. That's the rule."
The clerk witnessed what was going on with a confused expression in his eyes.
For fear that they would make things difficult for him, he reached out four forms for them to fill out and intended to deal with the strange four as a group.
After getting out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Mia looked at the marriage certificate in hand for which she paid 4.5 yuan and somehow felt slightly dazed.
In a blink of an eye, she became a married woman.
"Come on. Stop looking at it. Let me keep it for you."
Dylan took the marriage certificate out of Mia's hand. He decided that he should take care of the important document by himself and would not return it to the woman until he conquered her heart.
Although he had not known Mia for long, he knew well that he had fallen for this woman.
Holding Mia's hand, Dylan smiled at Joshua, who had also got his marriage certificate.
It seemed that Joshua had also found his true love.
"Come on, let's have a meal together."
Dylan did not expect to get married on the same day as Joshua and thought it was worth celebrating.
Dylan, Mia, Joshua, and his newly-married wife Anna Harries arrived at TC Clubhouse, one of the top dining places in J City. They did not order too many dishes, but all of them were delicious, indeed.
During the meal, Dylan clinked glasses with Joshua from time to time and did not forget to add Mia food.
Mia's appetite was fully satisfied by Dylan. Although Mia told Dylan repeatedly that she was full, the man served her a bowl of soup.
"Have some."
Dylan placed the bowl of soup before Mia, and his attitude was firm.
Mia pouted her mouth and drained the soup reluctantly.
For some reason, she felt that there was something strange about Dylan's attitude towards her. They were just a contracted, fake couple!
She cast a confused glance at Dylan.
Joshua noticed it.
"Why are you stealing glances at your husband? Did he force you to marry him or what?"
At Joshua's words, Mia froze for one second.
Just then, Dylan added a piece of chili onto Joshua's plate, saying, "Shut your mouth and finish your food."
"Come on, Dylan, we grew up together. I thought I am your homie. You are not going to abandon me for your wife, are you?"
"Cut the crap!"
Dylan threw another piece of chili at his friend, who could not handle spicy food at all.
"Mia, control your husband. He is killing me." Joshua said with an aggrieved look in his eyes.
