Chapter 8 Throw the Money Back

"Hehe, what's so strange about that? Fake bitches are common nowadays. Don't tell me that you don't know about this."

The women of high society gossiped like the ordinary. Because of their euphemistic diction, however, their words sounded much more elegant.

Mia laughed disdainfully. Damn the ladies from high society. They were just a bunch of pretentious women who had money. Without their wealth, they were nothing.

To put it more frankly, they were seemingly glamorous parasites relying on men.

Dylan witnessed Mia's sneer and revealed a more profound expression in his eyes.

Mia's disgust for high society was not fake. Over these years, Dylan had seen all kinds of women. He could easily see through what was on a woman's mind from her look or movement.

Both Mia's dislike of high society and hatred of Nova was real.

It seemed that Nova was really involved in killing someone.

"Dad, I think you should spare some attention to this matter if Aunt Nova has really irritated someone to death. Even if the other party is not going to hold her accountable, it will damage the Powell Family's reputation."

Dylan then took a glass of red wine from the waiter's tray and took a sip, shaking it with interest. The brilliance in his eyes grew more and more intense.

With his eyes squinted, Asher patted Dylan gently on the shoulder, saying, "I'm so glad that you're back. Don't leave again. Honestly, I'm not in the mood to care for your Aunt Nova's business."

Asher turned to leave. It was his fault in those years. Thus, he felt guilty for Nova and Dylan's Mom.

To make amends, he indulged Nova.

Asher, the Powell Family's head, was gone. Nova became even more arrogant.

Because Asher was not around, Nova was released from scruples of her image.

Nova lifted her hand, intending to slap Mia. Just then, however, someone gripped her wrist from behind.

"Aunt Nova, since when has the Powell Family become so unreasonably troublesome?"

Dylan smirked, cast a meaningful glance at Mia, and sipped his wine elegantly and enchantingly. His manners instantly conquered many young women's admiration.

The onlookers had long heard that Dylan, the older young master of the Powell Family, was more handsome and attractive than Luke. It turned out that all the hearsay was true. Dylan's smile was fascinating enough to bewitch all the audience.

Those socialites stared at Dylan unblinkingly, and all hoped to arouse interest in him, the elder young master of the top family in J City. In contrast, the woman who did get Dylan interested only cast a grateful glance at Dylan and then took her eyes off him.

"Mrs. Powell, mind your manners!"

Mia sneered while taking out a thick stack of bills from her bag.

Abruptly, Mia threw the banknotes at Mrs. Powell's face. And the rather sharp sides of the money hurt her cheek.

After that, Mia took out two more stacks of banknotes and went on throwing them hard at Mrs. Powell's face.

"This is the so-called compensation you gave for my lost youth. It was a big, fat check indeed. I know the Powell Family is rich and generous. But you know what? I don't give a shit. Take all your stinky money back!"

Mia used Nova's own tactics against her.

Previously, Nova humiliated Mia at school before all those schoolmates. Thus, Mia fought back at Nova in front of her contacts from the so-called high society.

This was just the beginning.

Mia would not let the women get away with Mom's death.

She would definitely take vengeance on Nova and Bella and take back what they owed her.

However, no matter what Mia was going to do, she could not bring Mom back to life.

Staring at the falling banknotes and the hateful woman who had been disgraced publicly, Mia actually did not feel any pleasure.

Instead, she felt even more distressed.

Apart from taking revenge constantly, nothing else could narcotize her aching heart.

Without glancing at Nova or the froze Luke, Mia walked up to Bella and directly slapped the latter in the cheek.

The ringing sound served as a foil to the silence in the auditorium.

Bella tilted her face to one side with drops of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

"Bella, you've earned this slap for yourself."

"You..." Bella gritted her teeth in hatred, and her cheek twitched in pain the moment she tried to say something.

"What about me? I was totally blind actually to regard you as a friend. I'm telling you. There are things in the world that I don't want but nothing I cannot get. I could give you the opportunity, and I can also pull you down from up high!"

"Hehe! I think you're sick in the head!"

"Opportunity?" Bella thought inwardly, "Don't make it about you. If I hadn't slept with that teacher, that opportunity wouldn't have been mine."

Bella felt ridiculous that although her own conditions were better than those of Mia in almost every aspect, it was always harder for her to get everything than Mia.

Mia hated Bella. But on the other hand, Bella hated Mia even more.

"Mia, show me how you're going to drag me down if you can. You're such a pathetic bitch."
